Superior tick control product and easy application!
SUPERB PRODUCT!! My two Wirehaired Pointing Griffs and I put in ~25-30 miles per week in the woods of the northeast where ticks are prevalent. I’ve struggled with ticks on the dogs and have avoided spot treatments fearing the long term effects on their health. Well…. NOT ANY MORE! I treated my two Griffs today (details on that in a second) and hit the woods for 1.5-2hrs on one of the few 50° days so far this year. An hour or two after return, I inspected the dogs and NOT A SINGLE TICK WAS FOUND!My treatment strategy:1. IMPORTANT: **Wear surgical/vinyl/rubber gloves!!**2. Set nozzle to “SPRAY” (not stream) and spray across dogs coat (including throat area, under belly etc., generally avoiding the face (especially eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and genital area; I treated my dogs outside.)3. Massage coat lightly with glove covered hands to work into undercoat.4. Spray a soft cloth/paper towel until wet and CAREFULLY wipe around dogs muzzle, around eyes/ears (if floppy ears), chin, and top of head.5. Allow dogs to dry COMPLETELY (~10-15 minutes; time varies depending on local temp/humidity).6. THAT’S IT!I also treated my dogs collars and florescent orange field jackets also allowing them to dry completely before use. Because my dogs don’t shed, I hope treatment will only be necessary about every ~6 weeks, but only time will tell with how frequently treatment will be required. The best part? Once dried, the JT Eaton product bonds to my dogs coat (the entry point for fleas/ticks) so I’m not dripping/rubbing pesticides/toxins onto my dogs skin/hide like many other products which may have long term negative health effects.

I unfortunately had a red mite outbreak with my chickens. This is not a one and done treatment. This was enough for a single treatment for 3 silkies and a bantam polish as well as their coop.

I didn’t find this helped too much with keeping those really small bugs away, I was still being swarmed by those. I did feel like it might’ve helped with the horseflies and ticks. Doesn’t have a super strong smell and is easy to apply to yourself or animals. But I was hoping it would keep all bugs away a bit better. With that being said, all bug spray especially animal safe ones only work so well typically anyways

Not what I had hoped
I originally bought this to use on our three large dogs in order to keep the mosquitos and flies from “bugging” them. But after reading all the fine print on the back of the bottle, I won’t use it on the dogs because of all the warnings and contradictory info (Use it here, but not here; don’t use if the pet is on medication (Would Glucosamine count?); don’t get it on YOUR skin, but it’s OK for dog skin????) I know all the fine print is to protect people from themselves and protect companies from lawsuits, but it also makes me gun shy to try and use this product on my dogs. I can still use it as general bug spray, but there are a lot of cheaper products that will do the job.
