High hopes were replaced with disappointment.
This review begins and ends with disappointment. First, the instructions are unclear and incomplete. Setting up an account should be a lot simpler than it was. Additionally, I am confused about the setup. The website indicates that a subscription is necessary to use the product, but the app requires a non-refundable payment. Therefore, there is no free day 90 use. Admittedly, I was never able to get the device to work once. Therefore, I don’t know what went wrong or when. I do know that I invested hours in trying to get it to work. The device and harness look to be of good quality and durable. I wanted it to work because my dog Toby keeps wandering off. I hoped this was a solution, but for me, it’s not.

Very nice, but we’ll see…
This smart GPS dog tracker set seems pretty good. I got it for my smallest dog, who always seems to be able to put the slip on me at least once a week or so, no matter how carefully I watch when I am taking my dogs out (to be fair, I’m taking multiple dogs out while in a wheelchair, so this isn’t easy to coordinate!) He usually doesn’t get very far, but my dogs are my world, so I wanted to get a tracker for him because the panic attack I’m having every time he gets out of my grasp wasn’t worth it. This looks good, but it’s MUCH larger than I anticipated. It comes with a collar, which looks pretty nice, but definitely won’t work for a 4 lb Pomeranian. My particular dog also happens to really dislike collars in general, so attaching a device this large to any collar will be both overly heavy and cumbersome and will also definitely lead to him ripping it off. It does look like it can be attached to any nylon collar though, so I am giving it a try by attaching it onto my dog’s nylon harness. I’m still working on getting this all set up, so five stars at the moment. I will come back and update if anything changes! But so far, so good!

Unable to truly connect and operate
Initial setup was confusing. The app download gave a malware warning, which was concerning enough for me to not move along with installation. The product and instructions were in a different language I hand to translate but that help much. I can say it’s beautifully crafted

A nightmare!
Overall, the concept of this Smart Dog GPS Tracker is good, but in reality, it is a nightmare to set up. I have tried repeatedly to get it set up so I can use it, but so far have failed. I cannot attest to the quality, ease of use, safety or battery life. The instructions are not very helpful. I get a message that the app contains malware and not to download. Needless to say, I stopped at this point.

Useless
No directions other than how to charge and how to download an app that my phone says may be harmful. I got two plastic pieces with no explanation of how they attach to the collar. One has 2 pins in it that fall out when you turn it over. It also has a magnet that I thought might hold it onto the collar somehow. It does stick to the other piece, but not with enough strength to survive dog zoomies. I thought maybe the pins were to stick through the colar to hold at least one of the pieces on. Well, I tested to see if the pin would fit into a hole in that piece. It fits alright! It got sucked in without any effort and won’t come out again. So I guess if you do figure out how this works, you can NEVER replace the collar. So I have one piece of plastic with a magnet and a mystery purpose. One pin that I might be able to stick through the collar to attach to what I think is the tracker. Then I have a tracker that now can only be attached with one pin because the other pin won’t come out so that I can stick it through the collar. Then, I have an app to track the GPS, that I am afraid to download because my phone said it might be dangerous. So, useless. It might work fine if there were directions that explain what the parts are and how to use them. At least I got a safety orange dog collar for my troubles. I also have added pictures of the “user manual.” Notice the section for FAQ is labeled FQA.

Great device…confusing directions…
Very confusing instructions on this tracker…They are not clear on the steps it takes to fully use this device…I had to look up videos from 3rd partiesto know how to use the device…Once i eventually understood the instructions the device worked as advertised…but the poorly written instructions were very frustrating… they should improve that…The magnet pin releaser is not mentioned in any of the directions…i was clueless as to what in the world it is… it is a magnet for detaching the pins that hold the tracker on the collar…that is great…but let me know that…put some labels on things…or make written instructions much more clear…The app is easy to get up and running…after i figured out i had to scan a qr code to proceed…again not made clear in the directions… but the app works fine as far as i can tell…The gps responds fairly fast and refreshes at an acceptable rate… no problems thereThe tracker itself seems pretty durable…dogproof maybe…I charged it but the light never went out…i cannot comment on the battery as of yet…It is small and discreet…it is lightweight…and the plastic on it seems durable…The dog is oblivious to it on his neck …so it passes the comfort test…The little collar that comes with it is kind of cheaply made but the tracker can be attached whereeverone sees fit… not a deal breaker…

The promise of a live GPS tracker with a virtual fence for my dog was incredibly appealing, offering the ultimate peace of mind for an adventurous pet. This device seemed to provide a comprehensive solution with its real-time location tracking and smart escape alerts. The included 4G SIM card and collar-compatible design suggested it would be a ready-to-use system right out of the box, which was a significant selling point for me.However, the initial setup process proved to be a significant hurdle. The application required for configuration was difficult to locate and install, creating immediate frustration. The interface within the app was not intuitive, with unclear menus and a confusing process for activating the device’s features. Attempting to adjust basic settings or establish a connection was not a straightforward experience, requiring more technical patience than I had anticipated for a consumer product. This product appears to house powerful technology, but its potential is locked behind a user interface that demands simplification. For an individual seeking a quick and reliable solution, the initial barrier can be insurmountable. While the features listed are impressive on paper, the practical utility is entirely dependent on a smooth and accessible setup process, which, in this case, was not my experience.Pros:- The concept of live GPS tracking and virtual fencing is highly valuable.- Built-in 4G connectivity eliminates the need for a separate SIM card.- Collar-compatible design allows for use with an existing harness.- Smart alerts could provide immediate notification if a pet leaves a safe zone.Cons:- The mobile application is difficult to navigate and install.- The initial setup process is complex and not user-friendly.- Key features are inaccessible without successfully configuring the problematic app.

This is a review for: Fribara Smart Dog GPS Tracker,Live Pet Tracker with Virtual Fence Dog Collar with App,Smart Alerts,Collar-Compatible,4G Built-in SIM,iOS & Android, $107.34 at time of writing.I would have loved for this device to work.I charged this device twice: at first for around 4 hours, then again for 2 days. The red light never turned off indicating the battery was full.It didn’t beep when inserting the SIM card as the manual described. I tried taking it out again, reinserting it, but nothing. The manual said the gold side should be facing down, but mine is facing up. So I tried putting it in the other way and it wouldn’t click. Reinserted it again and again no beep. When I press the power button, it does nothing. When I hold down the power button, it blinks blue, but turns off once I release the button. The pins and collar for the device work well, at least. The supplied magnet works well to take the pins out.The app and website are unintuitive. It must be taking location data from my phone, as the map shows the area where I live. When I go to the website, it shows a map in China. No matter what I’ve tried, I cannot get the tracker to show up on it.I even tried remote commands, but it tells me the device is offline.I was able to set up a geofence, though.

I don’t know what I am missing. I follow the instructions in the pamphlet, and it says it will connect automatically, but nothing happens. I have no idea what to enter for the user login, and I don’t see any button to create a new account. The app is called Newsmy GPS. There are no instructions within the app itself. It doesn’t appear to try to use bluetooth to connect, so I am left with blank user name and password fields. I even tried entering the device id printed on the back of the tracker, and also the number printed on the SIM card.I also visited the newsmy website, and everything is in Chinese and I cannot find anything on there at all.Update: There is a Scan button at the login screen. Out of desperation, I scanned the back of the GPS tracker – which didn’t work (there isn’t a barcode there anyways, but it read gibberish anyways). Then I scanned the silver sticker on the side of the box, and that actually worked. This sticker has a barcode and the device number written on it. Perhaps the barcode encodes the password as well? I am not sure. The app finally paired with the device and can get readings from the device, as well as the real-time location on the map.I am not sure if I want to pay for the subscription – it was such a headache to set up. Will update later if I finally decide.

There is a monthly subscription required in order to use this. I hadn’t seen that before ordering it.The collar is of good quality, and I like that it is brightly colored. You attach the GPS tracker via magnetic ‘tacks’, and they firmly hold. There were no instructions, so I tried to figure it out for myself…I could not, and honestly I was kind of disappointed by the subscription factor anyway.

I’ve been testing this for a few weeks and it’s been very handy. The app is easy enough to use once you figure it out. Updates the location pretty fast. Sometimes the signal is slow but it catches up. Gives me some peace of mind.
