EFFECTIVE PROTECTION FOR YOUR DOGS AND PETS: Coyotevest small dog harness helps slow or prevent surprise attacks from aggressive animals or birds of prey and give you enough time to react before serious injury occurs when you and your small dog are out for a walk, training, hiking or camping. CoyoteVest is reliable protection for your pet and peace of mind for you knowing that it’s not utterly defenseless.
TOUGH MATERIALS AND QUALITY MADE: Besides designing the spiked dog vest to protect the areas that are usually targeted during an attack, the side panels of this dog and cat harness vest are reinforced with genuine DuPont Kevlar that’s stab-resistant to withstand sharp canine teeth of aggressive animals such as coyotes, as well as claws/talons of birds of prey, such as hawks.
REMOVABLE PROTECTIVE SPIKES: Every CoyoteVest dog hawk vest comes with 3 sets of removable spikes strips – 1 set for the neck and 2 for each side on the back. The spikes are made of very hard plastic, so they’re safe to handle and will not hurt your pet, but are sharp enough to hurt when aggressors bite on them with enough pressure. The spikes strips are important lines of defense for your pet and can be easily removed and attached since they come with Velcro patches.
OTHER PET-FRIENDLY FEATURES: This coyote proof dog vest has an adjustable waist belt and collar to easily accommodate various dog shapes and sizes; a D-ring lets you connect and release your leash quickly; reflective features make your dog more visible at night, thus optimizing its safety outdoors; water-proof material ensures all-weather wearability and there are no metal parts that will rust, so you can expect durability.
HOW TO CHOOSE A COYOTEVEST HARNESS: make sure your dog is standing up and not sitting. Measure straight from the front shoulder to the start of the tail without curving your measuring tape. If you’re still uncertain which size to get after measuring, pick a smaller size.
Customers say
Customers find the dog harness to be of good quality and effective at keeping pets safe from coyotes, with a perfect fit for small dogs. They appreciate its comfort, lightweight design, and consider it worth the money. However, the vest tends to slip back, and while some customers like its appearance, others find it cheap-looking.

Great protection harness
This coyote protection harness is great. I got my pup a xs and it fits him comfortably. Good quality and I like that the spikes feel strong. I’ve recently seen a coyote run right in front of me in my front yard to the backyard and I was grateful my pup wasn’t outside with me at the time. My daughter told me about this harness and I immediately ordered one. I love it and it gives me piece of mind when I’m taking my dog out for a walk or to do his business, especially at night.

Peace of Mind is Worth Every Penny
Outstanding product!Legit Trigger Warning: The last week of August 2025, a dear friend was walking his Miniature Pincer on a leash from his apartment to Prospect Park in Brooklyn when two leashed Huskies (no judgment on the breed, they were clearly untrained, and are mentioned here to relate the size) attacked without warning and killed my friend’s dog within seconds.I have a six-pound Maltese puppy mill rescue. We live in Manhattan but spend a lot of time at our home in a heavily wooded area in Maine. Friends have joked – ooh, ya bettah watch out for hawks! While we never take him out without a leash, after my friend’s horrific experience, walking in the city no longer felt safe, and we decided we shouldn’t shrug off the notion of an attack by hawks, eagles, owls, or foxes, all of which we’ve seen (and love) on our property.I googled around and found this item. It arrived today, and I put it right on my little guy. It’s extremely easy to use; Milo needed no time to adjust to it. I already feel better taking him outside.I ordered the Extra-Small, and it fits him very well. I ordered the royal blue, thinking it would be suitable for use in the city, but now that we’re in Maine and it’s autumn, I wish I’d ordered the bright orange.I have already ordered the accessory Hawk Shield (in bright orange) and “whiskers” to add to his protection.Do not hesitate to spend the money on this item. It’s made in the USA, invented by a California man who lost his small dog to a Coyote attack.

Predator PROOF, lightweight & safe jacket for little fur babies!
I live in the country and I saw an owl right outside my back door. Living in the country I know there are predators but this guy was very bold, just sitting in a tree watching me. It dawned on me he was actually watching my little dog. That owl could easily grab my 4 lb. Shorkie, Nikki. I was scared to let her out of the house until I found this vest. I was worried it would be heavy and cumbersome but it is not at all. It’s made of a material that can’t be punctured, and even with the spikes it is very lightweight. Nikki is VERY picky and she acts like she doesn’t even know she has it on, she’s already figure out when the vest comes out she is going outside to play. I feel she is 100% safer being outside in this vest! Thank you for creating a “critter” proof jacket for my baby girl.

It certainly makes me feel safer
It seems to be the best one on the market. I like that it is stab proof kevlar. My dilemma is not the coyote, It’s a bald eagle, red tail hawk, and turkey vulture issue. Obviously I also purchased the hawk shield. I love that the shield is made to come off to give my dog the chance to escape; however It has some design flaws that If the company improves I would certainly upgrade. The d ring is located in a spot that puts pressure on the neck as if walking on a collar as opposed to a harness. I wound up using the harness over the vest and a small part of the shield because of this. I hope I never find out; but I am not certain the shield will come off in a raptor attack. I purchased the one with the locking buckle strap. ( the velcro closure makes no sense to me) I have the strap adjusted as tight as it goes so that the vest does not slide around. I am aware that the vest comes with smaller straps that you could use to try solve this problem but they are complicated. They did not work for me. I put a sweater under the vest. It would be better if there were 2 straps that went straight across with 2 locking buckles as opposed to the one that is angled. I believe it is the angle combined with the single strap underneath that makes the vest slide around if it is not at its tightest. It should have one adjustable locking buckle under the chest and one by the belly. so a total of 3 buckles ( the one at the neck is clearly necessary) would be better. The quality of the buckles could be better; and there is no place to put the slack from the straps. It is still highly adjustable. I can adjust it to fit over her thick winter coat or with nothing at all. All of that said It is still an awesome product . I feel much safer with it. My baby is comfortable in it and she had a great time in the yard today.

Not designed well for extra small dogs
I love the concept and needed so badly something that will protect my baby from all the birds of prey in north idaho. I was expecting way more and a better fit. My pup is just shy of 4lbs. Small breeds are the most vulnerable to attacks so I expected the xs size to fit well. It does fit her body length but I would say it’s a bit too long, she’s not able to turn her head well or see beside her, it’s like she has blinders on. The buckles are very sturdy and don’t come undone easily. I have the neck strap as tight as it will go and luckily it’s sufficient. The strap around her stomach barely gets tight enough; it could be tighter and it doesn’t seem that the strap stays put at the tightness you affix it to. It comes loose easily which is not safe and defeats the whole purpose. The whole strap should have been lower on the body. And because of this, it causes the back of the vest near her butt to lift instead of laying flat (see photo). I doubt at this point I will even bother to put the whiskers on. It would probably add too much extra weight for her. This should have been designed as an actual step in harness with adjustable straps and it would be so much better not only as a fit but for effectiveness. For $140 I’m not pleased, really bummed, might send it back at this point.

While it looks silly on her (we call it her “stegosaurus costume”), in an environment where a small dog in the yard could easily become a meal for one of the eagles that hang out in the trees out back, it allows our dog to have some supervised off-leash time outdoors.

I am quite pleased with the jacket which I bought given that there is an XL Bully on the loose in the neighbourhood (!). I hesitated for a while between XS & S for my long-haired, 4.5 kg Chihuahua, and went for the XS in the end. I am very pleased I did, as the S would have been too big for him. The jacket has a loop for your leash (which is not obvious from the product photos). I am also very happy that I went for the spikes version (although it is a costly extra!), as the jacket feels a bit light without them and I am not sure how effective it would be without the spikes in the event of an attack. Adjusting the harness was a bit of a PITA and the underbelly strap needed to be cut once adjusted, but I am happy with the investment and feel that my pup is safer with it.

This makes my chihuahua look like a punk rocker. I feel my dog is protected as much as possible. It is a talking point on walks out when meeting other dog owners, but once the coat is explained, they understand the reason behind it.

Paired with the multi-coloured anti-predator spikes, input this on my dog and I laugh and laugh. So cute and funny. Probably deters predators.

My 7lb mini poo doesn’t mind it and gives me a peace of mind. We are moving to the country where coyotes share the land and this will be good. I love how he looks like a tiny punk rocker and it’s very lightweight
