Completely removes litter box related odors
I bought these replacement filters so that I could try out the Fabreeze TrueAir plug-in filter unit I found while unpacking a box in our new apartment. I have no idea how old the original filter unit is (it was my husband’s ex’s, so at least 6 years), but I figured I would give it a go.We just downsized from a house in NH, where the litter box was in the basement, to a 2-bed/2-bath apartment in CA. We made a litter box out of a large, covered, rubbermaid container. Our cat is not the best squatter, and he has — for lack of a better term — a *strong* stream. Normal-sized boxes just do not work for him. Our makeshift box works great, but it is big and hold a lot more litter. This means there is more litter dust and smell to contend with.We have the litter box in one of the bathrooms, and the odor of the litter can sometimes build up. Our cat is good about covering, so we don’t have cat urine or poo smell, but the litter itself is somewhat dusty and has a distinctive smell.I placed one of these filters into the unit and plugged it into the wall. Within a few hours, the smell of the litter was significantly less. By the next morning, you could not smell a thing! When I clean the litter box, or when our cat uses it, the litter gets stirred up and you can smell it again. However, with the filter running, the smell completely diminishes with an hour or so.The filter unit has a blue nightlight on top which is a nice touch. Also, the filters come with a little packet that you crush with your fingers to activate. This starts a 2-month countdown, that is visible as a red stripe moving across the stripe. You place this strip in the filter unit, and you can see it from the front. It is a nice visual reminder of when to change out the filter.The filter unit is a bit noisy, so if you have this in the bedroom it might pose a problem if you are a light sleeper. The litter box and filter are in the bathroom attached to our bedroom, so I do hear it when going to bed. However, I need fan noise or some type of white noise to help me sleep anyway, so this does not bother me.I am impressed with how well the filters work. I am also impressed with the fact that the actual filter unit, including the nightlight, still works after sitting unused in box for at least 6 years.

These work great to keep the air clear of allergens in my Hamilton Beach TrueAir unit. The unit itself works great and is pretty quiet when running in the background. The only time that I ever notice it making a sound is when I have to do a quick intense clean on the high end setting once in awhile. Most of the times I have to lean in close to see if the unit is making a sound when turned on because it’s just that quiet when in use. I enjoy the feature that these filters come with a small time release tab to track how long it’s been since the filter has last been changed. With a busy schedule, the last time I changed an air filter is one of the last things on my mind. Since it’s a good visual reminder that I see when I’m turning on the unit itself, I find it’s best to time the changing of all filters for that 30-day period to this to be consistent at keeping the air quality in the home clean. For the price of just under $10 for a 3-pack, this is a good deal to ensure you have a three month supply on hand. Plus with the helpful time released tab, it’s easy to plan ahead future orders so that you’re never buying filters any sooner than needed and never finding yourself without when it’s time to change one.

Such a great product. Took the odors away very quickly. We have the purifier above one of the litter boxes in the small room we keep them in. Paired with Natures Miracle litter is a great combo.
