Product description

Why do pet parents give their cats and kittens an L-Lysine supplement?
Viralys helps strengthen a cat’s immune system, helping to manage respiratory health and ocular (eye) health. Lysine for cats has also been shown to help manage issues sensitive to L-Lysine that commonly arise in cats, such as regular sneezing, a runny nose, watery eyes, conjunctivitis and squinting.
What if my cat doesn’t like taking a gel supplement?
Because we understand that all cats are different, we’ve developed five different Lysine food supplement products. Each one has been designed with different feline preferences in mind, to make administering Lysine supplements as easy as possible. They all allow you to give the correct Lysine dosage to your furry friend in seconds and can all be safely used for as long as your cat needs them, with no known side effects. They’re also all suitable for cats and kittens of all ages. So whatever the preferences of your cat, there’s a Vetoquinol Lysine supplement that will suit her tastes perfectly!
What is the recommended dose?
The recommended L-Lysine dosage is 500mg twice a day for cats six months and older and 250mg twice a day for kittens under six months. Each 1.25 mL (1/4 teaspoon) contains approximately 250 mg of L-Lysine in a palatable base. The suggested dose for cats over 6 months of age is 1.25 mL given orally twice daily. The suggested dose for kittens under 6 months of age is 0.65 mL (1/8 teaspoon) given orally twice daily. Adjust dosage as recommended by your veterinarian. Following package instructions, place a small amount on cat’s nose to stimulate taste interest. Once initial interest has been established, a syringe or teaspoon may be used. Always follow your veterinarian’s guidelines.

Viralys L-Lysine daily supplement for cats is formulated for cats and kittens, no matter their age or size, with a yummy fishy poultry flavor!

Our L-Lysine gel can be safely used with no known side effects for as long as your cat or kitten needs support when used according to directions.

Lysine has been shown to help manage symptoms responsive to Lysine and maintain eye health, respiratory health, and Immune health.

We manufacture Viralys in North America under strict pharmaceutical guidelines, & are proud members of the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC).

Making Life Easier –
Helped my cat
My vet recommended this for an outdoor cat that I had brought indoors. I was skeptical but it actually worked to clear up her congestion and watery eyes and she gained weight. I can’t say that she really liked it despite the maple flavoring, but the main thing is it worked.

Boosts immunity, helps pets, great product!
Lysine is an immune booster & very helpful for immunocompromised cats & dogs. My vet prescribed lysine for my dog that I measured out & sprinkled on his food. Then my 21 yr old kitty caught a cold while I was sick too & vet prescribed lysine in this gel Viralys form daily for him in his old age to help keep him from getting sick. He lived to be 23! The gel form is much easier to give to cats & they either like the flavor or can’t tell when it’s on their food (I’m not sure which); & can be put directly on the tongue if using a syringe. I just put a 1cc needle-less syringe to the tip of the Viralys tube & draw while squeezing a tiny bit on the tube & no waste/no mess. I just put 0.5cc on top of my kitty’s canned food once a day & the tube lasts quite a long time for 1 cat, so not bad! Sadly, he was my little antique by time he reached his 23rd b-day & departed. I’m now using Viralys to help keep a FeLV very immunosuppressed cat from getting sick (along w/ no exposure to other cats or any sick people & keeping her indoors only) so she can live a happy life as long as possible w/o succumbing to every virus & bug that comes near. It’s a challenge but one of love. So I immediately started her on Viralys in hopes that it might help even in this severe case. For most pets, this is hands down a very good choice!! The verdict is still out in the case of the cat I’m trying to help that has essentially no immunity at all, but it sure won’t hurt her & just might help a little too. I do know it’s a great product from my own past experience & also because it was vet reccommended for my sweet ancient little guy as well as previous knowledge & use of lysine for people & dogs.

Limp tail?
I’m not really sure if it’s related to this product, and I didn’t write this review until it happened a second time in another cat. When I first used this product about a year ago, no issues and I do believe it helped my cat get over a cold. However recently I fed this to the same cat almost a year later, about a month ago after he started sneezing, then his tail went mostly limp, from mid tail to tip, it was dragging on the floor after a few doses of this, the next day.I didn’t think it was related to this product at all, but his sneezing stopped, so I stopped giving it him. This morning, an outdoor neighborhood cat that claimed me was bitten by something, I was worried he’d get infected, so I gave him a half teaspoon of this. About an hour later, his tail also went limp! Not as limp as my indoor cat that I had fed more of it to, but that seemed to be too much of a coincidence, so I threw the rest of the product out.Googling l lysine, I don’t think the active ingredient would have caused this, but I’m wondering if an ingredient that is used for flavoring or an inactive ingredient maybe has something to do with it?I am not claiming this product actually caused limp tail, but the coincidence was real, and decided to write this review in case it happens to anyone else.I decided to go ahead and purchase another brand, just in case, I don’t want to risk it.

My Cat Likes It
This gel has been a lifesaver for my cat. It’s easy to give, and my cat actually likes the taste, which makes things so much simpler. Since starting it, I’ve noticed fewer flare-ups and overall better health. It’s a bit pricey, but totally worth it for the results.

Easy to administer – Cat actually likes taste!
Easy to dispense and mix into wet food. Mom’s picky cat will actually consume. In the week following week the introduction of product, I could actually see a difference in cat’s eyes – reduced irritation and discharge. This product seems to be helping.

My Cat Smells Like Waffles and I Have Questions!
I love my cat. I will do anything for my cat.But WHY does Viralys think cats enjoy maple syrup??Like… at what point did the marketing team say,“Hmm, cats love chicken… tuna… rabbit… rodent…OH, I KNOW…BRUNCH.”My cat now smells like it had a baby with a tree in Vermont.I open the tube and instantly get hit with “Sunday breakfast at Grandma’s.”Meanwhile my cat is looking at me like:“Why does my medicine taste like waffles?”To be fair he tolerates it.Primary word: tolerates, not enjoys. He licks it, squints, gives me that betrayed look, and then walks away offended, but breathing better. Does it work? Yes.Does it make sense? Absolutely not.Would a chicken or tuna flavor make approximately 1000% more sense?YES. YES IT WOULD.So here we are.My cat’s nose is clearing up, his sneezing is easing, and he smells like breakfast.I guess that’s the Viralys experience.5 stars for effectiveness1 star for mapleOverall: Please, for the love of all things feline, make a savory version.
