Mesh is impractical
Didn’t really work that well for us. We tried using it on our 9 lb cat who had some sutures in the middle of her tail. With someone holding her, I had to use two of my fingers inside of the mesh to slide it onto her tail and then tried to move it up to cover the gauze around her sutures. We finally gave up because she was squirming too much. I think this is the reason the demonstration video uses a stuffed dog and the mesh is placed on a short stubby leg rather than a tail.

Tops for Tail Care
This dog tail first aid kit is a great value and exactly what I needed for my dog, who was healing from a sore on her tail. While I didn’t take pictures of her actual wound, I did capture how well the mesh protector fits over her very fluffy Akita tail. It stretches quite a bit and easily accommodates even larger dogs, so I can confidently say that it works for pets of all sizes. In fact, the same type of mesh is used by my own doctors for my post-surgery foot care, so I can vouch for its versatility and stretch.The kit includes basic but essential sterile first aid supplies, which are perfect for keeping in any pet first aid kit. The gauze and self-adhesive wrap are easy to use and keep the wound secure without additional tape or adhesives. I can see this kit being especially helpful for pets with “happy tail syndrome” or for covering and protecting healing wounds. Overall, I’m really pleased with how well this kit works and how comfortable it seems for my dog. Would definitely recommend it to any pet owner!

Perfect solution!
I have a foster pup with Hayle syndrome, She is a pointer with a pointer tail! Sometimes she bust open the tip or halfway up, And it’s hard to find a bandage to fit properly and stay on. This kit is absolutely perfect for mending a busted up tail! The guys and the bandaging tape is perfect, but the best is the mesh sleeve!! It is absolutely a must have to keep the bandage on and in place. It works great as a system, it was very affordable and I couldn’t be happier.

Had a foster dog who had a bad tail. Tried to use this which was ok but using gauze and a pool noodle worked just as good. To each their own.

Not effective for bandaging a dog‘s tail.
My Golden doodle got end of his tail caught and cut his tail. Every time he would wag his tail, he would open up the wound. I bought this thinking it would help keep it wrapped to heal. The sleeve is very difficult to use and none of the bandages would stay on. Don’t recommend for use on a dogs tail. Not good quality.
