This bed is so close to purrfect that the one not-so-fatal flaw makes not feeling that it deserves five stars truly bothersome.The starting point is that being the favorite person of Kitty and Puppy provides great joy. These fur babies only asking for a little affection and playtime as well as a daily meal or two contributes to this being the best relationship that many of us will ever have.The $230 price for this comfy bed that will AUTOMATICALLY keep your dog and/or cat from getting cold or hot is the least that he or she deserves.I always feel badly that these special sentient individuals must accept the environmental conditions that humans impose. Their ability to express feeling uncomfortable is limited, and their lack of dexterity prevents them from adjusting the thermostat.From a pawrent perspective, this item more than pays for itself over time (and is more environmentally friendly) in terms of using far less electricity leaving it on as opposed to keeping your entire home at room temperature while you are out to avoid your fur baby getting hot or cold. Extremes in either direction can create health hazards.Anyone who has a dog or a cat knows that the instinct to be comfortable gets him or her to locate sometimes sunny or cool but other uncomfortable places to lounge.The bigger picture is that this product essentially coming plug-and-play is awesome in this era in which even the most simple item often requires undue assembly. The simple clear instructions in a highly readable font are a spectacular bonus.The design excellence continues with the wonderfully neutral gray tones, the easily cleanable top pad to collect hair, the round shape that comforts Puppy and Kitty, and the generous dimensions that have plenty of room for a couple of small pets or one medium-sized ones.The Goldilocks weight that is neither too light nor too heavy will ensure that the bed will stay in place and not even shift in a manner that will deter your dog or cat from using it.I got the bed up-and-running within a minute of opening the box. It amazingly quickly heated to a comfortable temperature a few minutes later. I know that Kitty will take advantage of this during an epic blizzard tomorrow.The puzzling element that prevents a perfect rating is using the metric system for this product that is sold in the US. I confirmed that there is no way to adjust to the temperature and weight measurement systems that are the US standard. I adapted by asking an Alexa device for the equivalents but wish that this was unnecessary.I still love this product and will replace it if and when it stops operating. Newer models offering US measurements would warrant the coveted fifth Star.

Minimal & “smart” but kind of noisy, hard and my cats don’t like it
I can see this working for other animals but, sadly, my cats do not like this and won’t use it.I have a small heating pad that I keep on the couch in the winter, and my cats fight over who will use it. It’s not meant for cats obviously so when I saw this cat bed I thought it would be a really nice bed for them to use that was actually meant for them. It’s a shame they aren’t interested in it.This is a decent size cat bed. It’s great for an adult cat or a couple kittens/smaller cats, and I do like that it’s elevated and minimal. It doesn’t take up too much space considering, but the cord isn’t super long so you are kind of limited to where you will be able to keep this. I also do like that there’s the ability to record the cat’s weight and that it senses when to use the heat or cooling settings but it’s more in theory and less so in reality.First thing I noticed when setting this up was how thin the mat was on top. This bed is pretty hard and not very enticing. No wonder my cats weren’t interested. Then immediately after plugging this in my next thought was it’s actually pretty noisy. It’s not the nosiest thing by any means but it was louder than I expected it to be. My cats won’t go near it. I left it out unplugged first to get them acclimated but once this was turned on, that was the end of that.Next thing I didn’t love (although may not be an issue for others) is that the weight and temp aren’t in lbs and F and there’s no way to adjust this. There is also no manual way to pick a temperature. I do understand it’s smart technology but I still thought maybe there would be a setting where you could manually do it. This also isn’t a “smart” bed in the sense of WiFi capability. You can’t connect this or control it from your phone to my knowledge. There’s nothing said about that in the pamphlets they give and I think they just mean it’s smart technology bc it automatically goes between hot and cold. It’s a little misleading. You also can’t see the temp or scale easily bc it’s on the underside of the outer overhang. You have to be far away or bend over to look. It’s not easily viewable when close to it.Lastly, the warm and cool isn’t what I expected. The middle of the bed is the only thing that got warm for me and the whole outer ridge stayed cold. Not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to be but that’s what mine was doing when I had it running and would push my hands/arms on it acting as though a cat was on it since my cats won’t use it.I wish I could offer more real cat world experience to this review but they are too afraid of it. Best I could do is give my personal two cents on this thing.Bottom line: for the price point I don’t think this is worth it for me personally.

Impractical
Measurements are in Celsius and kg with no way to change it. The readout is on the side under the lip so it’s impossible to see the control panel or numbers when it’s on the floor.The pad on top offers no comfort. It’s a flat mat that sits directly on the hard plastic. I don’t know if it would work properly if you added a softer pad to it since it’s occupancy-driven and the heat/cool is dispersed from under the mat. The mat that comes with it is that looped-fiber material that holds onto pet hair, making it impossible to keep clean.The temperature adjustment is automatic so you don’t have the option to customize the settings. It goes into standby mode when the bed is not occupied, so it’s not as though the cool/warm surface is going to entice a pet to use it, since it must be in use before it kicks on. I can’t imagine my pets choosing to lounge on this without the temperature enticement.With all this said, I can see how this would be great as an outdoor cat bed on a raised surface on a porch near an outlet. And I can imagine this might be good for a vet/kennel situation where you’d want to maintain comfortable temps and keep tabs on weight changes. Otherwise it seems impractical for a home.It is not smartphone compatible. It doesn’t have a wifi or Bluetooth function. It is only smart by way of being completely automatic. With all the impractical aspects to this, I don’t believe it is worth the current $229 price unless you are using it in a veterinary setting.
