Pros:- The dress is incredibly high quality. It feels as durable and well made as a human garment, and not a cheap one either. I’d wear this if it were people-sized.- The velcro is strong. Even if your pet were to run and wiggle and roll around in it, it would stay on.- It’s got convenient hooks for a leash. The positioning of the tiny hook loops is perfect for using a leash with and they seem secure.Cons:- We laid the dress down on the ground as per the video. After twenty minutes of trying we were completely unable to get the rats into the dress. The video made it look so easy, but the rats were absolutely not having it. Not even blueberries could bribe them into stepping into it, and we couldn’t get it on them even with one person holding the rat and the other trying to get the dress on. In the end we gave up because there’s no reason to upset them just to put clothes on.I think we will let them get more familiar with the dress as an item by keeping it near when they’re playing before we try again. I’ll update this review if we ever manage to get them into it. Five stars despite not actually being able to use it, because if these rats WERE willing to wear the dress it would be truly perfect.Photos of the rats going near the various parts of the outfit but refusing to actually wear them, lol.

The Most Dapper Rat in Town! Secure, Adjustable & Surprisingly Easy!
I’ll be honest: my husband didn’t think our adult fancy rat would ever let me put a vest on him, but this Smolkith Gentlemen’s Vest proved him wrong! Our boy is around 350–360g, and while I probably could have sized down to a Small, the Medium was incredibly easy to adjust thanks to the smart Velcro placement.The “No-Stress” DesignThe setup is brilliant. It has an adjustable Velcro strap around the neck and another around the midsection (below the shoulder blades). Instead of trying to pull something over his head, I just opened it up, sat him on top with his little feet in the holes, and wrapped it around him. He wasn’t bothered by the Velcro or the fit at all—it stayed secure and didn’t restrict his movement.Style & QualityOh my gosh, the “Dapper” factor! The blue jean look with the little built-in necktie is absolutely precious. It’s essentially a high-fashion body harness. It’s not just for looks, either; the material feels sturdy, and the two metal D-rings on the back provide a balanced connection for the leash so it doesn’t pull awkwardly on his neck.The 5ft Leash SurpriseI was shocked at the quality of the included 5ft leash. It’s long enough to let him explore, and the handle has a comfortable loop (almost like a wristlet) so you don’t have to worry about dropping it. The snap-clip is easy to use, even if you have a wiggly pet.Final VerdictWhether you’re looking for a cute photo op or a secure way to let your small pet explore, this is a fantastic value. It’s cute, functional, and way easier to put on than I expected. If your rat is on the smaller side of 350g, you might consider a Small, but the Medium is very forgiving with the adjustments. My boy looks like a total gentleman!

I am going middle of the road on this because the biggest velcro swatch on it was significantly detached on one corner upon arrival. It concerns me to consider using this to secure a pet if the stitching is not sound all around. I think the sizing is good for a syrian hamster and the rigging for the leash seems sound but if the whole garment slips off it won’t matter.

Fun idea for your small pet
I got this outfit for my rats Gus and Smudge. The material is soft and stitched together well. The velcro closures are versatile enough to fit my 1 lb rats with room to expand large enough to fit I’d say a ferret. The harness connector is sturdy and functional but I would not rely on it to keep your pet safe because it’s possible for them to wiggle out of these clothes. So far my rats only want to wear this for a minute or two but look so cute in it! This outfit is is a decent deal for the $13 price, especially if you think you pet is chill enough to wear it.

Adjustable pink plaid dress and leash set for my cross-dressing rattie boy
I bought the fancy rat adjustable pink plaid dress in size large for my large fancy rat. He’s over a pound and quite round, so I assumed large would be perfect. The listed chest girth for size large is 23 to 25 centimeters, or 9.06 to 9.84 inches. He’s big but his actual chest turned out to be smaller than I expected. I didn’t take measurements – my bad. As a result, the dress was slightly too loose when I first put it on him. He doesn’t try to wriggle out of it. I ended up manually adjusting the Velcro straps to get a snugger fit.The dress itself is made of soft, lightweight fabric with a cute pink plaid pattern and sweet white flower shaped buttons. It’s comfortable enough that my rattie boy doesn’t seem bothered wearing it, though I only leave it on during supervised outings. The built in harness uses an adjustable Velcro closure and includes a sturdy metal D-ring at the back.The matching pink leash is long, at least 7 feet, which gives my rat plenty of room to explore safely during indoor play sessions. The carabiner clip attaches easily to the D-ring. So the dress is not just for looks as my rat can roam more freely and safer with the leash under my supervision. I find that valuable.Although it says size large fits rats weighing 500 to 1,000 grams, my rat is over 500 grams and still needed a smaller size due to body shape. That said, I could fix the dress for my rat with minor tweaks.I think it looks very cute on my rat and should last a long time. And he doesn’t mind that it’s for girls.
