Awesome dog buttons!
I love this thing! It could use a few minor improvements, like stickers or marks to differentiate the buttons (although dogs will learn the positions if it’s anchored in the same spot all the time) and a better location for the human controls, but it’s otherwise great. I just drew on it with sharpie and covered the controls, which wasn’t a big deal anyway.I had tried the individual buttons with my dog, but he liked to pick them up and carrying them around continuously pressing the button over and over. I was not a fan. That isn’t an issue with these! I also really appreciate that it’s rechargeable and I don’t have to constantly replace disposable batteries. The size is also nice for not taking up too much space but also not being something a dog is going to think is fun to carry around. It has not broken, so it seems well made and able to hold up to being smacked by paws regularly.Overall this works really well! I think it’s a good value for the price. The bell button is kind of a waste in my opinion, but even for four buttons on a rechargeable base, I don’t think it’s a bad price.I’m very pleased with this!

Is my dog communicating with me or just pawing at random buttons?
I found this dog toy to be a bit gimmicky. You can train your dog to push the buttons. My 10-year-old golden mix learned how to paw at the buttons on command in about a half hour using treats as a reward. He has a comical reaction to my voice. I don’t know if he will learn to associate the words with the specific buttons, as they are different colors, but all have the same texture and pattern (except the bell). Dogs are not great at differentiating colors. The record/play button is directly under the blue bell button, and my dog constantly turns it on and off by accident, which defeats the purpose.I can say my 2-year-old great-nephew had a blast – so many giggles!. My dog is already great at letting me know exactly what he wants, and, for the time being, he is a better conversationalist than my nephew. Is my dog communicating with me or just pawing at random buttons? Hard to say.

Brilliant idea, dog… not so much…
The Rechargable Dog Communication Button, is a really great idea. I just wish my dog would grasp the idea. He just tilts his head and looks at it. No fault of this unit. A puppy would probably pick up on the idea better than my old dog. However, this review does not reflect on the quality and simplicity of this unit. The buttons are large and brightly colored, and it is super simple to record. The recording is clear and easy to program. My reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is the volume. There is no way to turn it up or down, and that is the only issue I have. Personally, it is just too loud for me. I do, however, recommend this product if you are looking for a simple teaching tool for your dog.

Meant for dogs, not for cats.
It was indicated that it would work for cats as well, however, the cat would have to weigh 25 or 30 pounds to be able to push the buttons. It was just another waste of money proving that you should be able to go in somewhere and actually try these items out before purchasing them.

Really fun device!
Love this button set!! It is extremely simple to use and set up. When the middle button is up, it is on “recording” mode and when it is pressed, it is in “play” mode. To record (or re-record) any of the buttons, it has to be in recording mode, and then you push and hold the button you want to record. Let go when you’re done, put back in play mode, and that’s it! It will play whatever you recorded when you push.Of course teaching your dog to use it is a whole other thing!The only thing I don’t like is the prerecorded bell button, that you can’t record over. It’s a pretty annoying sound (and my dog hates it too, when he accidentally steps on it). It ends up being a waste of a button – I wish there was at least a way to disable that button.Other than that, it’s a great device, and I can’t wait to train my dog to use it!

Not great for dogs but might work for toddlers!
I have done a lot of training with my dog but this is the first time he has ever used buttons. I immediately notice that it moved around a lot and would not stay in place which made it hard for my dog to push the buttons. Also, dogs are color blind so all the colors look the same and he can’t differentiate which button to push for which sound. My sister is going to try it for her pre-verbal toddler and see if that works better.

Love that they’re programmable
I just got this communication buttons item and I’m so excited to team my dogs how to speak to me with it. I love that I can program the buttons with my own commands in my own voice instead of some pre-programed voice and commands. I do think the buttons are a little bit hard to push. My two little are having trouble getting enough power behind them to push them down, although the golden is doing just fine with it. Hopefully in time, the little ones will be able to get it. Reasonably priced for what you’re getting. Comes with the charging cord to charge up the unit.

Don’t hold it too close to your mouth when you record. It will be too loud.
I got this item to try to train my dog to communicate with us. The directions are clear and recording is easy. I love that it is USB-c rechargeable. The sound quality is good, the recordings are clear and the product seems well made. I think this would be a good purchase for kids or pets.
