Senior Dog Approved! Comfort is key.
My 12-year-old Labrador had a growth removed from her shoulder. She’s arthritic and the traditional cone was just too heavy and awkward for her. It dragged on the ground and she’d just stand there, miserable. This inflatable combo was the answer. The XL size fits her 20-inch neck perfectly with room to spare. The donut is so soft and lightweight, she barely seems to notice it. She can sleep comfortably on her side, eat, and drink without any assistance from me. The fact that she can see around her clearly seems to have reduced her anxiety significantly. After a few days, we felt confident enough to remove the clear plastic shield, and the donut alone was sufficient to prevent her from turning and licking the suture site. This product gave my old girl her dignity back during her recovery. Highly, highly recommend for older pets.

Better than the usual for daily use
We got this collar for our Frenchie who went through BOAS surgery. The collar is soft and less obtrusive than the standard default collar that a vet provided or one that isn’t inflatable. The plastic piece being removable is a great bonus for feeding and when its not longer required.The reason for 4 stars is due to the size of the inflatable, it might make it harder for your pet to lay down to rest/sleep. Due to the short stature of a small dog breed this may/may not impact your pet. Our’s did not really want to lay down at all and spent a large amount of time sitting while the collar was on where with the standard vet/all plastic collar they felt a bit more comfortable laying down. This is still a better solution as the flexible plastic resulted in less catching on the floor and jabbing into the dogs neck and less irritation. Our pet also seemed to retain better awareness and mobility with this collar vs the standard plastic collar.Overall the design and functionality of this collar is superior to the standard at least for our pet.

Ok but wish the plastic cone went all the way around.
Bought this to make my dog more comfortable after surgery. She’s definitely less anxious than with the hard plastic cone, but it moves a lot and the open part sometimes ends up by her mouth. After only 6 hours, she’d already bent it like she’d worn it for days!Good fit (size large for my 83 lb dog), but I wish the plastic went all the way around so she couldn’t reach her stitches.

This is useless as a collar. My dog was able to lick his paws and the cone was bent and destroyed in 40 mins. Total waste of money.

A wonderful help
I was pleasantly surprised that I had enough air to blow this thing up! lol. I see why this is better than the normal guards vets sell us! My only wish is that the clear plastic attachment was slightly thicker, because my dog is bartering this thing, so I’m hoping it will last till her allergies recede! A wonderful invention! Wish I’d thought of it!!

Great cone alternative
I foster senior dachshunds, and the stiff cones stress them out. This gray M-donut is a game-changer: lightweight, washable, and gentle on arthritic necks. My current foster fell asleep in it within minutes. The first time I’ve seen him snore since his dental surgery. The gray hides drool stains better than pastels, a small but brilliant detail. Five stars from the whole pack.

this item looks well made, the only, and the reason why I couldn’t use it is because upon arrival, I couldn’t attach the plastic extension because the zipper is made cheap, could not start to zip it onto padded collar, wouldn’t align to start zipper, small plastic teeth on zipper wouldn’t attach the 2 pieces,
