Best low calorie dog kibble
How do you tell a hungry toddler they can’t have anything to eat? How do you do tell them when they don’t speak or understand the your language? I don’t think of my fogs as human, but I consider our communication as toddler and adult. That’s where this kibble comes into the picture. I have 3 very intelligent, cooperative, very busy, active, herding breed dogs. They receive 2 meals a day and various value treats throughout the day. Their weight needs to remain stable and safe so it doesn’t hurt them in their activities. They compete in and train in agility, scent detection, obedience, rally, FastCat, rat hunting activities and etc. Ages are 7-10 years. Part of their diet is Nutro healthy weight at 231 calories/cup. It allows them to eat, and yes, they ask to eat, it works well in treat dispensing toys, and is a great addition to their lifestyle of ever learning. When they learn to climb the 9ft A-frame, or jump 20″ for agility, the kitchen counter is nothing. Scent detection in public places makes a garbage can an easy find in a home. The positive training techniques have made them an incredible team, and supplementing their diet with a low cal, balanced nutrition kibble has kept the toddlers happy without becoming overweight. I realize my approach to dog training may not be mainstream since they receive treats throughout the day to reward good behavior I want repeated. I am also confident this balanced kibble diet can be used for weight loss along with mental and physical exercise. They need crunch and volume without the impact of additional calories. So it’s necessary to have forage type calories. That isn’t a complaint, it’s a gift to the dog that doesn’t understand why it must go hungry to lower calorie intake. This product helps them not to be as hungry.

Our dogs love it
Our dogs love this food. We switched to it for our diabetic dog. It isn’t specifically for diabetic dogs so I would check with your vet first. But it has worked for ours. I think it’s expensive but it matches up with other similar natural dog foods.

The only non-chicken weight loss food I could find but still caused sensitivities.
My dog did lose weight on this dog food. However, he also vomited 1 – 2x per week and his coat got a lot more red and itchy. I only bought this brand because literally every other brand of weight management dog food uses chicken as its protein source and like many dogs, he is allergic to chicken. (Why no salmon for example?) As soon as he lost the needed weight (45 to 36 lbs), I immediately switched him to Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Lamb and Brown Rice formula and the vomiting completely stopped and the groomer said his skin isn’t as irritated. It’s been about 2 weeks. So while it is an effective weight loss dog food and he did enjoy the flavor, I would be wary of this food if you have a dog with food sensitivities or allergies.

My dog loves this! Particularly due to the smaller kibble compared to the size of the other Kibble for large dogs. I feel its easier for him to chew.

My pugs have always liked Nutro. Now at 12 years old, one was diagnosed with diabetes and he is also very prone to pancreatitis. He has to be on a low fat diet for life. He primarily eats a prescription canned food, however he would not touch the prescription dry food and he likes to eat dry sometimes. The other Nutro formula I used previously had too high of a fat content for him to safely eat, so I switched to this formula. Please consult with your vet before making a switch. I am simply sharing my positive experience but it may not be right for everyone. For reference, the Rx dry food has 5% min/9% max fat content. This Nutro food is 7% min/10% max. Both of my senior pugs and even my young akita all love this food. I feel better knowing that my boy won’t get a pancreatitis flare up if he decides to eat some kibble.

The food quality always seems good but the last 3 bags we ordered were had a hole in them. 2 were just small holes at the top. 1 was a large hole at bottom.Looked like a forklift had poked a hole in it. Half the food was gone and they just taped it up and shipped it as is. The amazon box is always intact but the dog food bag is hit or miss lately

Nutro Healthy Weight really does work, my dog lost 25 pounds on it. Now he’s on the maintaining amount. when the price got too high, I switched to another brand and my boy gained weight again so I had to go back to Nutro. Glad I did because he lost all the weight he gained. Even though it can be a little pricey compared to other foods, especially if you’re on a budget, it is totally worth it if your dog has weight management problems. Highly recommend this product.

This is our choice for our dog with pancreatitis instead of outrageous vet prescribed food with awful ingredients, and he does great on it ! He is fit and healthy and zero flair ups since switching to this food, and he loves it. I am super happy with the ingredients, which is a huge deal for me and the fat and protein content works perfect for his diet restrictions.

I’ve been ordering the Nutro Wholesome Essentials dry dog food every few weeks for like the last year. Usually all goes well but this week shipping is late and today I had to go searching for my dogs food.To my surprise the packaging is new/different (wa water resistant material vs paper) and the actual kibbles look different in shape and way less dusty.So now I’m sitting here trying to gecide wether I’m going to continue ordering from here or not?
