Dr. Elsey’s Senior Litter absorbs urine and odor on contact and traps it inside the crystals, keeping a cat’s genital area clean to help prevent urinary tract infections. Its small particle size and fine dust also coats and dehydrates cat feces to reduce odor. Dr. Elsey’s Senior is cleaner and hypo-allergenic, as it contains no wheat, pine, corn and paper litters.

Customers say

Customers find this cat litter to be the best for senior cats, with good odor control and easy cleanup. The clumping and dust content receive mixed reviews – while some say it’s the lowest dust litter, others report it doesn’t clump and gets everywhere. The absorbency and tracking features also get mixed feedback, with some finding it very absorbent while others say it doesn’t absorb urine well, and while some report minimal tracking, others say it tracks as much as regular litter. Value for money opinions are divided, with some finding it worth the price while others consider it expensive.

Best cat litter – multiple cats
We have tried a variety of this new style cat litter. We find this one, marked for seniors, to be the best. It doesn’t get out of the litter box as much as the others, probably because it might not get caught between the cat’s paws. Not sure, but compared to the products we have tried this one leaves the floor around the cat litter boxes the most ‘clean’. All of them result in some cat litter being on the floor, but this one by far is the best. Lasts a long time, we have two cats. Keeps the litter box from smelling. Very little ‘dust’.

Cats love it, works great, but a lot of DUST!
THE STORY: I have two cats. The male is 13 years old and weighs 14 lbs. He’s not really fat, he’s just a big cat overall. The female only weighs 9 lbs, but she is approaching 16 years of age or more. (She was a rescue, so I can only go with the age the vet approximated). Recently, one of them started defecating on the rug in front of the box instead of inside the box. I have concluded that it is because the regular clumping clay litter hurts his/her paws, so they don’t want to be in the box for any longer than they have to be. (Obviously urinating is quick, so he/she still does that in the litter box, for which I am oh so thankful!).MY GOOD RESULTS: I have been using it for about a week and, so far, they seem to love it. I never even had to put old litter in it to draw them to it – I just showed them the box; they are very smart kitties, LOL. Anyway, I think they have stopped using the old litter boxes that have the clay litter because there has been nothing to clean from those boxes for the last 2 days. So it looks like I will be switching all of my boxes to this kind of liter. (I’m thinking I may try other brands due to the cons listed below, but the same kind of litter. We will see). Now for the DOWNSIDE: 1) It is EXTREMELY dusty, but from what I read, that is part of what helps coat the feces/urine to help neutralize it, so I think that’s just how it’s going to be. 2) It appears that it is going to be more expensive than other litters because, while you can scoop out the feces, you do not scoop the urine; therefore you have to throw out the entire contents of the litter box after a certain amount of time. (every 2-3 weeks, or so I have read, depending on the number of cats using it).Overall: Do I care about the price? Well, I do wish it was cheaper, but those are my two babies and nothing is too expensive for them! I would go to the moon and back for those two, so if they like it, I LOVE it! I may experiment with different brands, but if needed, I will stick with this brand. I will update you later if any of this info changes.

Perfect Litter for UTI prone cats, and other bladder/kidney health issues
As someone who’s had a male kitty who’s gone through multiple kidney and bladder issues, this litter is a miracle.CONS:- It doesn’t clump- Needs to be fully changed out every 4 weeks (divide that by two for every cat you have. ex. I have 2 cats, and 8lbs (one container) of this can be split between 2 litter boxes, but needs to be changed every 2 weeks.)- Can get kind of gross towards changing timePROS:- My UTI prone cat has had zero occurrences since switching to this (saving me a small fortune from vet bills and unnecessary antibiotics)- Genuinely does seem to absorb pee and keep bacteria to a minimum- It’s so much lighter to carry than other litters (my hands and back are incredibly thankful)It wouldn’t recommend this litter if you have a cat without persistent health issues. It’s more of hassle than it’s worth, otherwise.I WOULD recommend this litter if you have a cat WITH persistent health issues, specifically kidney and/or bladder. This will cut down on recurrent bladder issues significantly, especially if it’s litter related.Final note: Do NOT buy this here unless the price is close to $13 USD. I don’t know why they seem to think it’s perfectly fine to jack up the price of this litter so high, but it’s significantly cheaper elsewhere. I’m not able to give direct links, but you can find them out by going to the dr elseys official website, and looking under the “where to buy” link (as of July 2018). It’s a little bit of legwork, but it’s worth not having to pay 2 to 3 times as much. I’m not affiliated with them, or getting any sort of compensation – I’m just peeved off at the money grab.

My cat is a 10 yr old neutered indoor cat. He loves this litter. It works to attract him to use the box so no accidents happen. Easy clean up and no odors. Great product.
