Does this camera send sound/motion alerts for free?
Yes. The camera provides free smart alerts for motion and sound, no subscription needed. Just make sure to enable them in the app: go to Home Surveillance Settings and turn on Detection Push Notifications.
Can the camera be mounted upside down on the ceiling?
Yes, the camera supports standard/inverted mounting with 180° screen rotation. Screw-in base accessories are included for easy installation. For inverted mounting, rotate the screen in settings to display the image normally.

Works Great, high quality camera
This camera worked great at first. I bought it to monitor my cat who was sick with cancer and came home from the vet on hospice care. The video quality is great, and so is the night vision quality. The first time set up was super easy, and the app worked great. I was able to track every movement that my cat made to see if he was eating, using the litter box, drinking water, etc.HOWEVER, the reason I’m leaving a 1 star review is that once we took our cat in for euthanization I unplugged the device, and have not touched it in about 3 months since I had no real need for it anymore. I tried to plug it in and start using it again today, to monitor my other cat while he recovers turns out that it’s offline. I tried EVERYTHING to get it to connect again, but it’s absolutely a useless piece of trash now. My wifi password is still the same and same password, it just fails to connect even when put so close to the router. SO disappointed that I spent $40 on this and it’s a hunk of garbage now. I would highly recommend anyone that buys this ensure that it stays plugged in and hooked up the entire time you have it on or else it’ll just never work again. -_- If you need this for intermittent use just buy something worth $20 or less.Update 9.20.25 – The company reached out and sent me a new replacement product, and I’m so delighted that they stand by their product quality. The new one works just fine, and I’ve been using it to monitor my other sick furbaby to ensure he is eating, getting fluids, and using the litter box at night and during the workday. I made a new account, so i’m not sure if that attributed to ease of set up again. I’ll make sure I generally just keep this plugged in going forward, likely to monitor front gate activity of my apartment complex, to avoid any future issues from leaving it unpowered for too long.

I’m highly impressed with this purchase! Here are a few things that I loved right from the get go. The packaging for the product is nicely done. Everything is nicely organized. You get EVERYTHING you need with the product. Set up was fast and easy. All I had to do was add the device to the Mi Home App per the instructions. The wall mounts went up. With the way the camera attaches directly I found it easier to just mount it to the top of the wall. You don’t have to adjust the camera much. Because of the lens you get great coverage! Easy to set up and install. The quality of the picture is clear and sharp. No issues with WiFi connection. Great product and very affordable. We use it mainly when traveling to check on the house and make sure our pets are doing well. The cord is long (6ft.) but we could use one just afoot or two more due to the location of our outlets. Overall, I would purchase again.

Overall the size and movement of the cameras were great. It seemed to only record in time increments and didn’t always detect people when they came into the apartment. Maybe the settings were too hard to set up for me but that was the only real complaint.

This product is excellent! It has many features that allow you to capture images day or night, which is great because we love using it to check on our furry friends when we’re away. It works great as a security camera, and the image quality is superb. You can also use the app to talk to the subjects on camera. In our case, as a pet cam, it certainly gets a curious cat’s attention. I would certainly buy this again. If you’re looking for a great camera and a great security camera, this is it. It has lots of features for people detection, and it can also record to a secure cloud if needed via a subscription which is very reasonably priced.
