High-Quality Build, Low Feline InterestāA Great Litter Box My Cats Politely Ignored
Iāve got eight cats, and all of them are well-versed in the fine art of using a litter box. Weāve used conventional litter for years, and more recently, I introduced robot boxes into the mixāwhich took about a month for the cats to warm up to. So, when I added this stainless steel Suzzipaws litter box to the rotation, I was hoping curiosity would take its course. Unfortunately, 60 days later, itās mostly sitting unused like a shiny little monument to feline indifference.First, the good: this litter box is exceptionally well made. The stainless steel construction means itāll probably outlive every plastic litter box in my house. It doesnāt hold odors, is easy to clean, and has a sleek, modern look. The high sides do a fantastic job at containing spray, and the overlapping seams eliminate leaks. No complaints on build qualityāitās a solid piece of gear.Setup was easy. The included sifting tray, pee pad, and liner bags are smartly designed, and I really liked the concept behind the zeolite pellets. Theyāre natural, virtually dust-free, and highly absorbent. They absorb urine while allowing the solids to sit on top, and the pee pad beneath catches any overflow. Itās a clever system, and I genuinely hoped the cats would take to it.But hereās the problem: they didnāt. Iāve never used pine or crystal litter beforeāmy cats are used to traditional clumping clayāand I think the zeolite pellets just threw them off. I even tried the classic trick of adding a bit of used litter to the new box to encourage them. Still no takers. One or two of them may have tried it, but no one has adopted it full-time.That said, itās not a size issue. None of my cats weighs more than 12 pounds, and most are around 9, so they fit comfortably in the box. Itās more about texture preference than space. If Iād started a kitten with this setup, I think it wouldāve been a great match. But my crew of adult cats is clearly set in their litter ways.I did notice that the clamp padding on the frame can slip a little, but I plan to pin it in place if needed. Itās a minor fix and doesnāt detract from the overall design. I appreciate how easy it is to fold down and clean, and I still think itās a great conceptāit just might be better suited for households starting fresh with new litter habits.Bottom line: if your catās open-minded about litter types or youāre training a kitten from scratch, this could be the ultimate long-term solution. For my veteran crew of clumping clay purists? Not so much. Great box, beautiful design, just not their thing.

Puurfect pine litter box
Perfect size for our space. I love the stainless steel easy to clean, the sifting pan, and the side walls to keep litter where it should be!

Too large of sifting holes.
Wrong sifting type pan. If you are looking for the Zeolite Pellet type set up, this is not what is pictured; (even though the litter is included) it falls through the holes.

Tray great, pellets and rest not so much
So, the pan itself is great. Solid with high sided piece does a good job of stopping litter flying around and the metal doesnāt hold odor like plastic does. However, the pellet litter and sift pan system was awful for us. I ended up throwing pellets, sifting tray and liners they go along with into the trash within a week. Reason being the pellets donāt cover poop smell at all! Just a couple pellets attach to the wet poo but it is basically uncovered poo smell. Also, it is impossible to sift wet pellets out with the included scoop. No clumping obviously so you end up throwing away so much unused pellets if try to scoop wet ones. Now I know the idea is to leave them for a week as the pee is supposably absorbed by them and whatever is not goes through the sift pan and onto the absorbent pads. The fact this system is made like this tells me the pellets donāt absorb a lot of the urine! Why else would absorbent pads be needed. The smell confirms this. I have four cats and only tried this system because my 18 year old tiny girl is dropping her business right beside cat box and I was told traditional litter can be rough on my old girls paw pads. This is softer. However, she wouldnāt use it so it didnāt change things for us and it stank. Now we use the basic tray with high side piece with normal litter and used that way, it is great. Just the rest that comes with it was useless for us.

Great litter box, just not for large cats
Suzzipaws cat litter box system has everything you need for your cat, even the pellet litter made from Zeolite.The quality of litter box is exceptional that will last you probably forever. Unfortunately the size is suitable only for cats on smaller/medium size.The included Zeolite is quite new material for me so I was interested to test it features and how it works. Zeolite is a family of natural minerals that are non-toxic,Ā 99.9% dust free, have a high surface area (i.e. porous, similar to lava rocks or charcoal) and have ion exchange capacities. Zeolite cat litter pellets deliver great performance in odor control and anti-tracking to minimize mess around the litter box. You need to scoop away only solids, pee will be absorbed by pellets and by pee pads at the lower box. The wet pellets will dry very fast (they will not dissolve) and I didn’t notice any odor just from urine. You will need to replace pee pads with fresh one if too much liquid or smell. There are also liner bags that very helpful to keep bottom of the box clean. And company recommends to completely replace Zeolite pellets at least once a month. Liner bags and pee pads are included and information is given where to buy to restock.Unfortunately not all my cats like Zeolite. I have multiple cats household and some of them are used to pine pellets. I have noticed reduced traffic to new litter box with Zeolite pellets. As soon as I exchanged Zeolite with pine pellets, usage returned to previous levels. Company recommends to use Zeolite, pine or crystal pellets. So you have choice.I like a lot the design of this litter box . The walls are high and in such shape, that prevents urine to escape the litter box and overlapping design prevents leakage from joints. The box and sifter are metal, they will not be scratched overtime like plastic boxes, that can lead to possible bad bacteria and odor accumulation. Plastic boxes require a continuous replacement. This metal litter box will serve you for very long time if not forever and it’s very easy to maintain. The idea to use bag liner with pee pad is genious. I like it a lot!I am giving 4 stars only because of size limitations. My large cats (18 pounds in weight) can’t use it and some of my cats, that are using it now, refused to use it with Zeolite pellets. But your situation can be different. This box is of excellent quality!
