Does what it says it does! Very accurate.
This device feels like it is very well made, feels solid. It also came with a case, which is a nice touch. I suggest you use it as the front of the device scratches easily. This does not effect any usage. It features an “SOS” button which is the only tactical button on the device. I’ve combed through the menus on the app (more on that later) and it doesn’t look like you can set an alarm if someone pushes the button. I did notice that when I push the button, it plots an additional point on the map. This would be good if you want to note a location and go back in the history to find where it is on the map. The only other button is the power button which I find awkward to push. Sometimes you have to push it really hard. It features a SIM card which is already installed but comes with a screw driver in the event you want to swap out the SIM. The charging port, hidden under a flap is USB mini which might annoy some people, for me it’s fine. One gripe I have with charging is the device always want to start up once plugged in. This device is water resistant but I haven’t tested that aspect of it.To use the device, you can use a browser on a computer or download the app for free for your device. I noticed there was a pro version that was free so I installed that. On my device, an Android, I noticed a line flickering on the left of the screen which is annoying but doesn’t effect the use. The app otherwise is straight forward, it shows on a map where the device is. Setting up “geo fencing” is kind of clunky but once you set it up, it works. It can email, text and/or push notification you if the device goes out of a designated area or if it reaches a certain speed. The device tracks by sending it’s location periodically over time, say once every 3 minutes. You can change this but if you have it report more often, it requires a higher tiered plan and will reduce battery life. Because of that fact it tracks the device in straight lines on the map between reportings, not following the contour of the road as you would see in your car’s GPS. This means if you are traveling through a city like Manhattan it’ll show where you went, not necessarily the route you took to get there. As for accuracy, I haven’t seen any GPS unit this precise. The device can pinpoint its location even inside my house. I once took it to a Wal-Mart and it accurately tracked me through the store. I was also pushing that “SOS” button constantly and that was very helpful to gauge the accuracy. So who is this device for? It is small and light enough to fit in a pocket, backpack or hand bag. It’ll also fit anywhere in a motor vehicle. If you want to track your children or a vehicle or if you run a fleet of vehicle, I can see this useful. The description says it can’t be wired in but I don’t see why you can’t use a phone charger to power it indefinitely. As for pets I could only see this being used on a larger dog. The case has a strap you can use to attach it to a collar. The unit is smaller than those invisible fence units I see around. You could use it on a smaller dog or cat but they would probably hate you for it. I also see this useful for hikers so someone at home can monitor your progress. Keep in mind you would need to be in an area with cell coverage. If you have any of these needs I can recommend this device as it does what it’s intended to do.

Great Trackers for Events
Purchased multiple Amcrest GPS trackers for Cycling Events. We use the trackers to track our Support Vehicles (SAG and Supply). When riders need assistance they call the Command Center and Command is able to locate and direct the nearest support vehicle. The trackers work as advertised and the User Interface meets our requirements of placing an route overlay on the map (GPX file). Battery life is as expected. When fully charged, the units will work all day with 30 second update interval. Be careful with setting alerts and emails. Too many alerts are bothersome and will diminish battery life. We use minimal alerts. We are able to activate trackers ahead of an event and cancel service (dormant mode) after the event to minimize costs. Geofencing works very well for notifying when a tracker enters or exits a defined zone. We’re able to view multiple trackers on the map simultaneously. Great customer support via email.Update: Have been using the newer trackers for 2 years for Bicycle Ride Events and tracking key riders and support vehicles. No problems. Customer support via email is very responsive and they fixed a “bug” with the user interface loading GPX routes on the same day.Update April 2025 – Using trackers for 2 weekend Bicycle Ride Events. On the first weekend we experienced a problem with multiple trackers showing on the map at the same time. The icons would drift off the map screen and back into position. This was reported to Customer Service and they provided a prompt solution prior to the start of our 2nd event. No problems with drifting icons were observed. Good reliable tracking. I’m very pleased with Customer Service.

Reliable, accurate 4G based GPS with questionable battery
I purchased this 4G GPS to replace my old 2G GPS tracker. It’s slightly larger than the older models, mostly due to having a larger battery to accommodate the higher battery consumption of the 4G networks. They have a wide variety of plans to choose from depending on how often you want updates from the GPS. I chose the 60 second plan, which is very reasonably priced. The tracker has a well featured website for tracking, and an app. I use the Android app for the tracker, and it works quite well except for occasionally not showing the correct units (shows km regardless of setting for imperial). It fits inside the magnetic mount case that was designed for 2G/3G units, but just barely. The only major drawback is battery life calculation. The website for the tracker has a feature where you can decrease the polling rate to increase battery life. Paradoxically, this seems to be having the opposite effect. Changing from 1 to 2, then from 2 to 3 minutes, I expected this to drastically increase the battery life. Instead, the longer the interval, the faster the battery drains. I also noticed that as the battery gets lower, it uses the battery at en extremely rapid rate. For example, I had 31% on my battery today. After 5 hours of being PARKED, the battery dropped to 16%. Less than 20 mins later (NOT moving), it dropped to 14%, then 13% 15 minutes later, then 9% after a 35 mile drive with 3 minute interval updates. Now it’s holding at 9% even with a lot of driving. I don’t get it. The “top” end of the battery is similar. It’ll hold at 100% charge for 2-3 days after fully charging, then start dropping. The battery life calculator clearly needs some work. On the up side, you can see tons of data about the trips. The maps are very nice and essentially built like Google Maps. You can generate reports if you want. The app also has notifications so you can be notified about things like low battery, movement, or even set up “zones” in which you’ll get alerts if the vehicle travels outside that area.

Great little tracker for the money paid. Wished the yearly service was a bit cheaper but it works well. While on a 2 month road trip family members were able to see where we were alleviating any worries. Charge lasts exactly 2 weeks (30 sec update plan) and recharge on the truck inverter took about 3 hours. The waterproof magnetic case is a nice touch so it can be hidden outside. The website/App were easy to use and liked the low battery email notification option that came with the base monitoring package. The phone support was kind of sketchy due to language issues but the email support was much better so we will stick with that in the future. Bought the monitoring package for one year and will definitely renew it because this is so much better than airtags we used previously.

This unit works like they say it will. This unit connected with the cell and gps signals in less than 30sec. for me and that was sitting in the house with it. My unit is on my ebike and it is stored in an area closed in on 3 sides with a tin roof and stays connected. Once it goes into sleep mode it takes very little movement to wake it and to send me a phone message and an email. It works the way I want it to work if someone were to try and cut the locks the movement doing so will wake it and let me know. It is a little pricey for me as I live in Canada so you have to take the exchange rate into consideration on the monthly cost, but I believe it is worth it. I know if some one attempts to take it I will know about it. Yes I would recommend this and it deserves the 5 stars I gave it.
