Changing Food Challenge
I have a 63 lb Labrador. She’s 7. Time to switch to a senior food. I also wanted Glucosamine for joint health. I don’t know that I would have changed foods (she was on Victor Super Premium Beef Meal & Rice) but there was a Salmonella recall on her food. I then began to research foods with the ingredients I felt necessary for my senior girl. I came across Diamond Naturals. I DID NOT want grain-free. I wanted natural ingredients & no soy, corn & a bunch of other fillers. The transition was easy. First 3 days. 2/3 old food, 1/3 Diamond Naturals. Everything’s going great, poops are fine. Days 4-6, 1/2 old food, 1/2 Diamond Naturals. All good, poops are normal. Day 7, all Diamond Naturals. It’s been about a week & 1/2 & so far everything is great. Fortunately she does not have any mobility issues so I cannot attest to any discernible benefits from the Glucosamine, but I’m certain it will prove beneficial in the long term. My recommendation is that Diamond Naturals is a quality kibble (if we are to accept their ingredient analysis) that my Lab found easily digestible after the proper introduction. Should I have any issues or information to share going forward, I will update my review.

I have four pedigree pups, I given them about ever higher end brands over the years and Natural was $15 cheaper and came w a good review so i took a chance. If ur a animal lover u know price doesn’t always correlate with quality or dog preference. I’ve spent $2/lb on other brands and thought i was going to have to eat it. This Natural gets gobbled up every morning leaving each dog looking for more. I will be repurchasing this in a few weeks. Lastly, if u have multiple dogs like me, this food rations out well and will last me 6+ weeks, w two of the dogs 60+ lbs which get 3/4 lbs a day.

I love this dog food! My 8 year old lab mix was kinda going downhill over the course of a few months. She wouldn’t get up for anything and when she did, she would limp slightly and you could hear popping noises. I could tell that she was having some joint issues and she’s always been a tad overweight, so I thought it was time to find a senior dog food for her.This senior food is amazing! Within a week of transitioning her over, she changed completely back to her old self! Running and jumping around like she used to. I couldn’t be more happy.Side note: quite a few reviews are mentioning extreme gut discomfort from switching to this food. Those reviews had made me hesitant to try it, but I did anyways. I transitioned the new food by 1/8 each time. So she was 1/8th cup of this, 7/8th cup of old food for 2 days. Then 1/4th of this and 3/4ths of old food for 2 days, and so on. She didn’t experience any issues with the transition. I believe every dog is different, but i definitely think the food is worth trying.

Helped Boxer with Digestion Problems
We rescued a female boxer who came with severe digestion problems. No matter what she ate – loose stools. Not diarrhea, but loose stools. We tried plain boiled chicken, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, you name it – all of the all natural, not rich to her system foods. Removing grains. Nothing worked. Took her to the vet periodically as a couple of months went by without improvement. Put her on a medicated food that was SUPER EXPENSIVE. It seemed to work. So I did some research and read more dog food labels than I knew what to do with and compared the HIGH COST vet food label to Diamond Naturals Senior. She is approximately 3 years old and not a senior by any means, but the combination of ingredients and the percentages are a perfect fit for her large breed size and her digestion. Her stool is beautiful and I never thought I’d get so excited to see firm stool. Needless to say, we won’t be changing her diet – ever. My younger boxer male is on the Diamond Naturals Lamb & Rice and doing very well. Highly recommend the brand for both the quality and the value – can’t beat it!
