i-Tronics – Putting their money where their mouth is
I originally bought this device over 2 years ago. I don’t know the circumstances with the poor dogs that the owners’ claimed had issues with this collar, we’ve had nothing but great results. For our dog, a low vibration is the normal level of correction needed to correct some bad habit. It typically gets her running back to me. When we go to the beach, and there’s lots of distractions, we change over to a low shock correction. Usually about 3-4 works for us. Like other pet owner’s I don’t want to subject the pup to a correction that I’ve been unwilling to take, so I never use a setting stronger than what I’ve tested on my arm. The low level shocks are more than enough to get our dog’s attention. As I mentioned, we use the shock setting at the beach. This is where there are birds, other dogs, cats, people on bikes, abandoned lunches, your name it. Oh yeah, and the ocean itself. This collar holds up to the saltwater, the sand, the sunscreen on our hands, as well as the after beach shower. We’ve never had an issue it it.Our dog loves the collar. When she sees it, she knows; it’s time to run free! She knows she’s under control, but she also knows she’s not going to be on a leash, and as long as she follows voice commands; no problem. When we do correct, she takes it in stride.I mentioned that we bought the first one about 2 years ago. Well, this year over Christmas it just wouldn’t charge anymore. I tried and tried, but couldn’t get it to work. So I went back to Amazon, and looked for the Petrainer collar again. I didn’t immediately find it, but I did find that these collars have dropped in price significantly in 2 years. Below $30 is a steal for the technology. As I started researching, I typically would go to the 1 star ratings first, and I’d look at the total number of reviews, and the breakdown between great ones and really poor ones. Surprisingly, all had over 10% negative comments, many of which talked about the injuries to their dogs caused by these collars generically, regardless of brand.Since we’d had such good results with ours, and the general state of the review for this type of product seemed poor, I really wanted to find the exact replacement for the model I had previously owned. However, the negative comments were so consistent across the various brands, from brands I’ve never heard of to very recognizable names. None seemed to fare better than the other. I didn’t want to take the chance. I stuck with the one I knew, the Petrainer Pet 916 collar and remote.A couple of days after I ordered it, I receive an e-mail from their customer service letting me know they now offer a LIFETIME warranty on the collar and remote. I wrote them back that I had just ordered my second one because I couldn’t get the collar to charge, but that I’d had a great experience with the first one, and I was happy that I’d been able to find them again after 2 years. Their customer service wrote back, thanking me for being a loyal customer and asked to verify my mailing address as they wanted to send me a replacement for the one that had gone bad. No gimmick, no shipping and handling charges, no strings whatsoever. They didn’t have that policy in place 2 years ago, but they honored their current promotion on a 2-year old product. Who does that?I recently had a horrible experience with a different vendor for a completely unrelated product who sent me a defective product and was so uncooperative that Amazon stepped in and gave me a full refund without requiring a return. So when I had this experience with i-Tronics, there was no doubt that I was going to toot their horn for them. It’s a reliable and great product. It’s less expensive now than it was 2 years ago.i-Tronics advertises and claims to have a lifetime warranty. And the prove it by putting their money where their mouth is.There is no doubt that I will seek out other ways to do business with i-Tronics in the future. The single star experiences related in the reviews just don’t jibe at all with the experiences I’ve had over the last 2 years. I’m so sorry you had issues, but I’ve seen these guys from a different point of view, and I highly recommend them. Based on the similar poor reviews I’ve read about the variety of collars across many, many vendors, I wonder if the collars are being fitted correctly, and if the contacts are the right size for your dogs. Regardless of the actual cause, I do pray your dogs didn’t sustain long term injuries, but I can say after over 2 years of use, I’ve not experienced a single issue between our dog and the collar.

Fantastic Product!
This is an outstanding training collar. It is outperforming collars I have used in the past that cost me much more.My dog is an Australian Shepherd and is a service dog that detects seizures, helps me with my mobility, and helps me up if I fall. She is well trained and I mostly use the collar when I let her run around our two acre property. I have used it to correct her when I’m out in the community in unfamiliar surroundings or when there are lots of distractions. The collar and remote feel sturdy and I expect them to last a long time. They are both easy to operate and I haven’t had any difficulty pairing them. The ability to charge them both at the same time is a great feature, and they hold a charge a very long time.As for the three different corrections, they all work well. The beep is very loud and the vibrations are strong at all speeds. The static correction is VERY strong and I recommend starting much lower than you would think.I set my initial static level by using the collar on my arm. My dog is pretty sensitive and my current setting is 17. I’ve only used the static correction twice, but, because my dog is a service dog, she is very smart and in-tune with me. As far as the range, I tested it out to 300 yards.I am very pleased with all of the features. One thing that seems unimportant, but means a lot to me is the black color. I have had people make comments about their personal opinions about training collars when I’ve used orange collars.I only have two small things I’d change. I’d feel better if the belt clip was tighter or if there was a way to attach a lanyard. I’d also get rid of the light feature. All it does is turn the tiny LED on the collar on. It is just a setting I always pass, and is just another step to go past before you get back to the beep correction if you’ve been on a different setting. This is a fantastic product at a great price.

The Petrainer PET916 100% Waterproof Dog Training Collar with Remote 1000 ft Rechargeable Electric Dog collar is a great tool for making great progress with training our dog. We like to take our dog off leash on trails for walks. We tested the Petrainer collar on ourselves before putting it on our dog. My husband compared it too a Tens treatment. I found that it got my attention on the shock setting. Our dog loves to play with other dogs and would sometimes shut off his hearing when we would encounter other dogs on our walks. We wanted him to listen for his own safety, especially if another dog is not friendly. We have only had to use the shock level a few times in the year we have been using the Petrainer collar. The bell sound level, and when necessary the vibration level work great using a verbal command as well. It has really made a difference in our dog! We live in British Columbia which receives a fair amount of rain and we have not had any problems with the Petrainer collar in over a year. I recently called to order some of the contact pegs and rubber caps and was very surprised when the representative said I would receive them in 3 to 5 business days and there was no charge! The Petrainer collar is a great product with great customer service.

Works great, set up and function were all as advertised. We have a pitbull, which are known to have an incredible pain tolerance. I’ve used the shocker a couple of times on him at 50%, and won’t ever have to use shock again; the vibration is associated with it so all we use is vibe.FUR LENGTH IS EVERYTHINGThe reason this works on tough short hair dogs better than more fragile ones is usually because of the fur length. It also only works if you’ve taken the rubber tips off of the shock prongs, which based on a few other reviews is a given. It also has to be tight enough for prong to skin contact. The only cons are:-NOT BARK ACTIVATED-Sleep mode; you have to go to the dog and press the button to wake it up. This is a deal breaker for most, and really inconvenient.-generic USB-C charging cords would be a huge step up on user function.

Less than 8 months ago I purchased a static collar for about $140 from a large pet chain. We returned the first one as soon as it was purchased because it did not work, then the second one seemed to be good… for 4 months. In the 4 months we lost the packaging and receipt, upon requesting what I could do, the return effort as so long it was not worth it, even with a rewards card to track the purchase – very disappointed in the store! In December 2015 we purchased this E-collar and we love it! Jax responses immediately to both the beep and the vibration – we almost don’t need the shock. The collar gives us the control that we need to keep our dog away from traffic and dangerous circumstances. It gives him even more freedom, because we can let him run free as long as we know we can stop him when needed.Quality product other than the cheep plastic collar. We took the webbing clip collar off the chain store collar and used that. Any collar can be strung through the unit, but it would have been nice to have a nicer one included.

I’m sorry it has taken so long to write this as it was purchased a year ago….but I was just looking at other brands to buy to help with some corrective issues with my lab and decided I should write a review on the training collar that worked for a month before it just stopped working…meaning even with plugging it into the the recharger, nothing…no power!I even wrote to the company and got another charger, which I paid for and still NOTHING!I am not impressed! However, the reason I bought it still persists with my dog so I must buy another one….there are serveal Pettrainers on Amazon but I’m am so reluctant to purchase another based on the poor quality and lack of cust service. There’s my story!

We’ve had this collar for over three months now and have used it a handful of times and wouldn’t recommend it for ‘working’/’hunting’ dogs. We were looking for an affordable alternative then the one we currently have (Sportdog Hunting Collar) for our other dog. We own two Hungarian Vizsla’s.Speaking to the actual unit of the collar, it appears well built but when you actually have it in your hands it doesn’t feel sturdy then the one we are used too; it’s VERY light and it rattles when you shake it (it sounds like there is a loose piece of plastic or component inside the unit itself; which seems to be a common thing here based on the reviews we’ve read). The prongs come in three different sizes, that are built cheap; the tip of the prongs are smooth but the rest of it isn’t rounded out so it irritated the skin of our dog (we wouldn’t recommend this if you have a fine/short haired dog) and it builds up surface rust very quickly; we’ve only used this collar for our new girl to break her out of bad habits like counter surfing, etc and when we take them out to the fields. The strap of the collar is made out of plastic and is very flimsy. When we took it out of the box, it was tightly coiled that it didn’t break it’s ‘coil’ even after a month of having it out, the strap never straightened out (even laying between two heavy cement blocks and/or coiling it the other way) so we ended up just swapping it with the extra collar from the other brand we use for our first dog.The remote is huge, which is nice and I don’t have any complaints to this component. It’s easy to use.Functionality. We like how the collar has a long life and a quick charge. Unlike the other brand we have which takes a full 12 hours to charge, this one is ready to go after an hour of being plugged in… the life of the unit lasts us for three days, and that’s after taking them to the fields and using it around the home for house breaking .Downside is the performance. This is something we didn’t expect much out off for the price we paid and purchased this with sub-par expectations; what made me decide to buy this was the warranty to be honest, lol. I tested the strength of the shock myself and it was very tolerable until I got beyond the 50 point and that’s where it started to get uncomfortable. <50 below felt like a very bad pinch to the nipples >50 above was more of that shock factor… at the 70-80 mark that’s when I started twitching/wincing from the shock. The multiple levels of vibrating is awesome and she’s very respondent to that then the actual shock, because of the loose component inside the unit we sometimes can hear the actual unit vibrate when we trigger it. The beep is a beep, it works. There is a flash light function, but ours didn’t come with it so I couldn’t tell you anything on that. There is a noticeable delay though when you press on the remote and when the collar receives it. The auto-off function is a nice feature too and does add life to the remote and collar… but, it’s not so good when you try to correct a bad behavior and forget you need to press the button twice to turn the remote back on, haha.Overall, for the price it is a good introduction to e-collars and for housebreaking. Personally, we wouldn’t recommend it for working/active outdoors dogs.
