works well for my anxious pup.
best nail trimmer i have found by far. I was looking for something quick to do my pups nails. This fit that bill. My pup hates having her nails clipped, I think she was aggressively clipped as a baby, so she has some anxiety with her front paws. Clipping with traditional clippers was NOT an option, you’d think i was killing her with her screams. Even the vet refused to clip her nails. Fun… So i bought this and, although she does not love the procedure, she tolerates it with minimal fuss. The nails are a bit sharp after this, but with practice you will figure out how to taper the nails so they are less killers. I recommend this item.

Very fast way to trim dogs nails
This is MUCH faster than using those cheap stand alone nail grinding hand tools. It took like 2 minutes to do my dog’s nails. It also comes with the “EZ lock” thing which I think is $10 by itself. My only gripe is per the instructions you’re suppose to put the dog’s toe on the plastic angle and my dog (Doberman) could not do this as her toes are too big to grind and fit on the guard.

Not a universal fit
I initially bought a separate Dremel for pet nails. When I got it in, I realized it was just a normal Dremel 7000 series with this attachment. I quickly returned it and ordered this for my Dremel 8250.I’ll cut straight to the downside first…This attachment does not universally fit all current Dremels. On my 8250, I can’t use the 3rd depth setting that is designed to be flush with the guard. The whole attachment screws onto my Dremel too deep, so the sandpaper sticks out about 2mm too far and doesn’t fit flush with the 3rd depth. This would be a 5-star attachment if it had some means to set a baseline depth on the attachment itself. I can unscrew the whole attachment 2mm and use the 3rd depth, but then the attachment is a little too lose and will vibrate itself off within a short time of using it.When I checked it on the 7000 series, it was a perfect fit. It’s just the 8250 has a slightly deeper screw mount. This is the first universal attachment I’ve not been able to fully use on it.Beyond that, it’s a great little attachment and does the job well. My pets definitely prefer having their nails grinded vs clipped, though the noise of a Dremel does bother some of them. I just wish I could use the flush 3rd depth without loosening up the whole attachment.

Best solution for our dog!
We have a Chihuahua mix with black nails. It’s impossible to see where her quicks are, and her nails grow very fast. They need trimming every week to not curl, and are super thick. We were using a rechargable grinder made for dogs, and her nails ground down the grinder and took a toll on the small motor. We needed a better solution. She’s tiny, and wiggly. A Dremel would work best, but I wanted to make sure she was safe from accidental injury. This tool does the trick! Fit perfectly on my old and trusty Dremel 200. Put it on low speed and it screeched and scared her a bit. Set it to high, and it quietly and quickly ground her nails down. The paw pad and guard are designed perfectly, allowing me to get just the right angle. Unlike the rechargable one, her nails didn’t reduce the disc to dust, and there was very little odor of “burning nail”. The guard protected her paw pads and fur nicely, and it was quick and painless.Sure, the tool itself is plastic but it seems like it’ll last a bit. It’s half the price of a groomer doing them once, and so even if I have to replace it (or the discs) we are saving a lot of time and money, as well as the stress of a grooming visit (since her short coat never needs trimming and we bathe her and care for her other grooming needs at home). All in all, a great solution, especially for very thick, quick growing nails.

Does the job
Good: Performs as advertised. Setup isn’t quite a no-brainer, the guard has three depth settings, and it takes a little fiddling of the disc position in the chuck and the guard depth to get everything properly aligned with the disc surface maybe an eighth of an inch below the guard. Once you have it set up, however, it works well. My dog isn’t quite used to it yet but she at least tolerates it on the lowest tool speed, and the discs cut reasonably quickly and smoothly. (Given that they’re just cut-down 60-gritsanding discs, this isn’t surprising.) Guard catches at least most of the dust and is reasonably easy to clean.Bad: It may be just the way my dog’s claws grow, but the trimming method described in the manual doesn’t work for us. I have to rotate the trimmer 90 degrees and get that elongated part completely out of the way for the disc to make contact.Bottom line: Both setup and usage take some practice, but it does work. You have to run the Dremel on its lowest speed, otherwise it makes a lot of noise and spooks the pet. You also have to avoid the temptation to go too fast. I keep getting impatient and putting too much pressure on the tool, which slows it down and heats up the claw, which is probably uncomfortable for the pet. (Plus, it smells awful.) But, with patience and a little practice, it works well. And replacement discs are like a dollar each. Five stars.

Pretty good
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I think I would prefer a smaller/lighter specialty product, but I already had the Dremel. There is conflicting information as to whether it fits my Dremel 8250 model or not in terms of recommended speed, and sand disk height setting. Once it is threaded on, the correct position for my dogs paw versus the on/off switch location is awkward. With its weight it forces my wrist to contort to an uncomfortably tiring position, but that’s only if I want to control power while filing. The Dremel seems quiet enough. I’m trying to acclimate my dog to it .. Maybe cover it in peanut butter.

Both my big rough tough German Shepherds turn into little winy kids when it is time for grooming. With their nails being black, trimming them was especially challenging. All that changed with this fantastic Dremel attachment. Now nail trimmings are actually enjoyed! They have long seen me use my Dremel for other work, and are quite comfortable and careful around me when I am using my power tools. They have both see it work with a bit in the chuck and have become indifferent to its sound. With this attachment and a course (60) sanding disc running at a slow to medium setting (around 4 on my #300 model) both dogs are comfortable getting their nails “power filed”.Each has their own preferences – Max like a higher speed and lighter touch, while Fritz wants it slower and tries to shove his nail in. Both now see pedicures as a special 1-on-1 time where they are the pampered “star of the show.” Now the only problem is getting one to wait for the other to be finished. I have to swap dogs every paw or they fight to be next. LOL.I have ordered a rechargeable Dremel to dedicate to this task as there is not an outlet comfortably close to their couch, where they prefer to get groomed. That’s right I said “THEIR COUCH”. As my service dogs, they gave me my life back, so yeah, I have spoiled them with their own couch. If you visit, they will gladly share it with you, but they will also make it clear they own it.

Good fit and function, easy to assemble and use. We tried to use with home Dremel which would not go slow enough. Ended up purchasing whole package.

Oh, the dreaded nail trimming session with my furry best friend! It used to be a nail-biting experience (pun intended), but that all changed when I discovered the Dremel Pet Grooming Nail Guard Attachment. Now, it’s all smooth sailing, or rather, smooth trimming! The guard attachment made trimming my dog’s nails a walk in the park. No more nail trimming drama or accidental “oops” moments – just a calm and collected pup and a relieved pet owner. This attachment is like a trusty sidekick that swoops in and saves the day, turning a once-stressful chore into a breeze.I’m giving the Dremel Nail Guard Attachment a solid four stars. It would have earned a perfect five, but I found the instructions to be a bit tricky to decipher at first. However, after a bit of head-scratching and a couple of trial runs, we were good to go.Overall, if you’re looking for an easier way to keep your pet’s nails in check without the usual fuss, the Dremel Pet Grooming Nail Guard Attachment is definitely worth considering. Here’s to happier paws and a more relaxed nail trimming experience for both you and your furry friend!
