Please Note
1) The mat may initially have some wrinkles/creases from being folded and packaged. Over time these will relax out of the material as the product rebounds from being packaged.
2) Prolonged use and washing of the mat will loosen the polyester fibers (this is normal). The loosening of fibers may affect the appearance of the mat but it will help the mat to trap and contain more litter over time.
How do I clean the mat?
We recommend hand washing or spraying the mat down with a hose/power washer, then hanging to dry. If machine washing, wash separately on a delicate cycle, then hang to dry (DO NOT BLEACH OR PUT IN THE DRYER).

I thought I didn’t need this – I was wrong
I’ve tried several different litter mats over the years. My cat isn’t super messy but the litter still gets tracked around the house no matter what I use. This mat doesn’t stop the tracking but it catches a noticeable amount of it. There is less litter tracked into the house and it is easy to clean the mat itself. The dark color helps make the litter easy to see and the ridges catch a lot of the litter. It is easy to quickly vacuum the mat with a handheld vacuum so that it doesn’t pile up. The mat stays flat and keeps the area around the litter box looking as good as possible. I think the ridges are important though – I bought a smaller size mat without ridges from this same company for use in another spot in my house, and it didn’t stay flat and didn’t catch as much litter as this one. The ridged mat doesn’t seem to be available in all sizes, although they say you can cut it to change the size.

Helpful for stray litter.
I like these mats a lot. I put one of these on top of my other all-plastic, larger sized mat. It works at just the right width of the litter bin to go right in front of it. When the cats jump out of the litter box, they hop on this mat. Because the mat is a smooth, even felt-like material, all you have to do is pick up the mat and shake the loose litter bits right back into the bin. It’s easier to shake out than all of the plastic and rubber mats that are out there.Plus since it’s a felt-like material, it can be washed in the machine (with the lightest hand wash setting and no heat dry, of course). The mat has a plastic bottom so water doesn’t soak through it. However, that plastic bottom can begin to separate from the fabric after several washes, so they don’t last all that long.But these mats are perfect for quick everyday cleanup and it helps to keep the trails of loose litter sand under control. It’s a bit expensive, but it’s worth it!

As advertised
Had this mat for about five months now and it has overall been great in our space. It catches litter pretty well and overall makes our litterbox corner look a lot more put together. I like that it is machine washable. However, I will note that my cats do pee on this mat occasionally and I’ve washed it probably at least 10 times or more by now. The waterproof backing is starting to fall off the mat and when the cats pee on it some moisture does leak through. On top of that I cannot get the urine smell out of the mat now, regardless of how many times I wash it. So not a great mat for the cost considering I’m going to have to replace it, but I haven’t found one I like better than this one yet.TLDR: Works as advertised but doesn’t hold up the best long term. Would still by again.

A decent solution not without its issues.
It does a very good job of cutting down on the litter kicked up by the cats when they jump out of the box and it saved me from having to clean as much as I could have, after my cat threw up on it twice, keeping the mess from soaking through with the waterproof liner.It’s technically machine washable yes, but I came back to the carpet on one side of the washer and the liner on the other. Hand washing would probably extend the lifespan, but it’s very disappointing that it came apart immediately. If you have an agitator in your washer, the two layers are coming apart.

Easy to clean, fast drying, and all around great!
I have a cat who has recently decided that one corner of my living room is his litter box. His vet can’t find anything wrong with him, except that maybe he’s a jerk. On the vet’s recommendation, I bought a litter box to put in that corner, and grabbed one of these mats because it was there in the litter box section of Walmart. Waterproof was a nice bonus, but not why I bought it.I cannot express how thrilled I am by it’s waterproof-ness! Unfortunately my cat is still a jerk, and uses the new litter box only sometimes, but his most recent out-of-box incidents have all been on the litter mat. And it’s SO easy to clean! Water/urine just wicks right out of it when you turn it sideways, so I just carefully scoop it up, bring it to the tub, and let the urine drain right out. A quick scrub with some enzymatic carpet cleaner to maybe deter future pees, rinse throughly, then just hang it to dry. It drains completely in just a couple minutes and can go back in the corner by the litter box before any more incidents!I bought a smaller one at Walmart, but have purchased an XL one here on Amazon to cover the rest of the problem corner near the litter box. I’d love if my jerk cat would stop urinating on the floor, but if he’s going to do it, I’m so happy to have these waterproof mats to save my carpet and make cleaning easy!I will say I’m a little worried about the durability. I’ve washed the small one about 6 times and not the large one yet, and it seems to be holding up fine. But the backing is just a thin lining of plastic. If it gets a hole the whole thing will probably leak out that hole. But it’s a great price even if it might get a hole someday.

NOT WATERPROOF
I was so excited to buy this mat because my cat sometimes drips a bit of urine over the side of the litter box. Since it was only a bit of dripping I never took it out from under the box until recently when the smell of urine started to fill the room. I assumed that the mat just needed to be cleaned however when I peeled it off the floor I was dismayed to find that the urine had seeped past the mat and had created a disgusting goo all over the floor. It completely ruined the section of the floor.Admittedly, since I regularly vacuum the mat I didn’t feel a need to do any other maintenance- until the onset of the smell- because the product is advertised as WATERPROOF. While the product description does instruct to ‘machine wash as needed’, I don’t feel like the fact that I wasn’t doing that regularly has anything to do with the fact that the item is simply NOT WATERPROOF as it advertises.
