Pricey but worth it for maintenance.
I’m not certain if we actually have dust mite issues, but since we live in an older rental home that’s carpeted throughout, I decided to give this additive a try. I wanted to see if some of my kids’ random skin bumps and frequent sneezing might be related to dust mites since our family has bug bite allergies and none of us have pollen allergies.First, I appreciate that it’s unscented. It has that typical “natural” unscented smell, which I don’t mind, and it uses non-toxic ingredients, so I feel safe using it on linens, carpets, curtains, and more. Being eco-friendly and pet/child-safe is a big plus in my book.I can’t say for certain how effective it is against mites, but I have noticed some positive changes: my toddler, who loves rolling around on our high-traffic carpet, hasn’t had red bumps since I started using it. None of us have frequent sneezes as well. My other child, who has sensitive skin, hasn’t shown any skin irritations either. The only downside is the price. I think it’s worth it if you know you have mite issues and want something that checks the boxes—eco-friendly, non-toxic, and safe for kids and pets. But if you’re just using it as a precaution, like me, it might feel a bit expensive in today’s economy. Still, given the large size and minimal amount needed for maintenance, it’s manageable.

Completely eliminates mites
I’ve tried several different mite elimination detergents and this one works the best. Unfortunately even though those who know me consider me to be a neat freak, I managed to come into contact with itch mites. I’m not sure how I got them but I know how I got rid of them…I bagged and sealed all of my clothes, steam cleaned the floors and sprayed everything and vacuumed with a high powered canister vacuum everyday AND washed everything in hot water and added a little under a cup per full load of laundry of this stuff. I’ve tried more expensive detergents claiming to eliminate mites but they didn’t completely eliminate all of them…this stuff KILLS THEM ALL. I also dried my clothes on high heat and replaced my rugs; my house has hardwood floors thankfully. Heaven help you if you happen to be cursed with these tiny demons but if you do exactly what I did; you will see the light at the end of the tunnel. It took me about 3 months to rid my house of these monsters. I showered with a mixture of baking soda, dawn, sulfur lotion and eucalyptus oil every night and washed my sheets and comforter every day. It’s exhausting but it can be done. I tried two exterminators who did nothing but empty my wallet. As the saying goes…if you want something done right you’ve got to do it yourself. I hope this helps someone…I wouldn’t wish my experience with these hell bugs on anyone. The number one thing I did was PRAY to GOD.

Easy to Use and Goes a Long Way
This is a great addition to my laundry aids. It’s easy to use; you can add it to your laundry any way you like—directly on the laundry or in the liquid compartment. The directions say to use 2oz for each laundry load, so this 128oz should clean 64 laundry loads. Sometimes I go into a fit of sneezing, so, maybe ridding the invisible dust mites will help. I recommend this item.
My 2 cents –
The 128 oz bottle should last 64 medium (2 ozs) to 42 large (3 ozs) loads.
The 128 oz opaque bottle (it’s a gallon so it’s somewhat heavy) arrived with a safety seal under the cap (which isn’t child proof or a measuring cup). There’s no scent to my nose, and even when a bit splashed onto my hand it wasn’t irritating to my skin (the bottle states to avoid contact with the eyes). The three active ingredients are sodium lauryl sulfate (3%), sodium chloride (1%), and citric acid (0.20%). All ingredients are listed on the bottle, but I agree that the brand should clearly list them on the Amazon listing. It’s my understanding that citric acid kills dust mites but not their eggs, which is why it’s recommended that a product like this be used on a continuous basis.1, 2, or 3 ounces of this clear laundry additive is recommended per load, based on the size of the load, so this 128 oz bottle should last 128 loads if you wash small loads every time, but for most people it will probably last somewhere between 42 and 64 loads. (2 ounces = 1/4 cup).I’m allergic to dust mites and quite a few other allergens (I was tested years ago), so I take allergy medicine daily. We only buy washable sheets/quilts/blankets, and I’ve used this laundry additive (I didn’t realize this was available!) for a couple of weeks on all our bedding and blankets, and I think my morning allergy symptoms have been reduced.Hot water is recommended, but depending on the bedding/blanket material we used cold, eco-warm, or warm water on everything, which Hygea states you may. I added a smaller amount of detergent than usual (we usually use lightweight detergent sheets) and added this liquid to the detergent section of the washing machine (easy). I couldn’t detect any difference in the look or feel of our bedding/blankets, which I did wonder about. (I washed a small trial load the first time).Because there are so many allergens in my world, using this one product won’t remove my need to take allergy medicine, but it makes sense to me to concentrate on bedroom items (which was one of the first recommendations from an allergist years ago, along with getting rid of carpets and using air conditioning), so this laundry additive is one step in an overall allergy prevention plan. Made in USA.

Contains citric acid
I cannot recommend this as I had to order it to find out the ingredient list. I looked all over the product page and could not find a single ingredient. This had citric acid which I cannot use, so I cannot comment if this is a good product or if it washes well. I will not be smelling this and won’t be using it. The bottle was nicely packaged and sealed and then sealed in shrink wrap.Include the ingredient list so people know the ingredients before they buy
