Customers say
Customers find the flea and tick prevention product easy to use and consider it good value for money. The product quality receives positive feedback, with one customer noting it’s particularly suitable for small dogs. While some customers report their dogs scratch less often after application, others mention their pets scratch constantly at night. Customers disagree on the product’s effectiveness, with some saying it works quickly to rid flea problems while others report it didn’t work at all. The product leaves coats greasy and has a mixed scent, with some finding the smell nice while others describe it as strange. The duration of protection is also mixed, with some customers reporting it lasts about two weeks while others say it only works for 20 to 25 days.

Good value
Good value for the price, but still not sure of the effectiveness. My dogs didn’t have fleas before treatment, and still don’t, so I guess it works? Regardless, I like that I get 6 doses per box for the same price for 2 of some other brands.

Slow acting but does work!
I have an Australian shepherd and live in dense woodland! I put this on my dog and didn’t get much relief after 30 days. I did notice the ticks were smaller and not bloating on her! Decided to give it a chance and gave her a second dose. The second dose did the trick. She is tick free and I appreciate not having ticks on my furniture and on me!!!

Great product
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Works great for my pups. I am not a fan of giving any more pills than required, so I use the topical. Additionally, my girls have sensitive skin and have experienced very dry, itchy skin from other products. This one contains Aloe, so we haven’t seen the skin irritation with the product.

Ultra Guard Yes, But Also Ultra Slimy
Product appears to work as intended as have had no issues while using it, but ultimately not sure if I will continue to use this in the long run. While it is a good option for the cost and ease of application, the product leave the pups fur slimy/oily around the area it was applied and beyond. It had no apparent scent, which is good but it’s not like it’s just excessive as it doesn’t wipe off. It give his coat an almost wet look to it and will stay that way until a good bath. In order to make sure the application is effective, I don’t want to wash him too soon after it’s been applied so generally I choose to leave it like that for about a week. In the end it was a tough call to rate it just three stars as I think the product does work in protecting fleas and ticks, but since it results in that appearance and needing a good bath several days later to get the residue off, I can’t really give it more than three stars. Maybe it’s works better on other breeds that have different coats, but not with my pup.

Used to work- now I’m out $80 to the vet.
Hartz used to be a reliable product. Now it’s just not. I recently had stray cats start traipsing through the yard at night. They set off the doggie doorbell each night. Stray cats equals stray fleas. Well, I grabbed the orange flea shampoo at WallyWorld and used it. It lasts 14 days, so it should have been fine when this was delayed in arrival by 2 days. Should have been. But it wasn’t. Next thing I knew, there was a flea visible running around my dog’s leg. He circled a couple of times and I was able to pluck it off and send it down the commode. Long story short- that means that 6 days after application, this should have been working well enough for any flea to be no more. Instead I’m now out $80 for a 3-month Bravecto pill from the vet. Unbelievable.
