The Herm Sprenger Black Stainless Steel Prong collar is one of the most recognizable and popular names in obedience training tools. A safe and effective alternative to choker collars, it puts even pressure around the neck, about every half inch, pinching the skin in a band. This collar does not apply direct pressure to the trachea, so you can train your dog with little or no tugging, jerking, or pulling. The addition of a center plate connector allows the middle link to be configured symmetrically, enabling the prongs to tighten in the same direction. Made of high quality German Black stainless steel, the size of this collar can be adjusted by adding or removing the links individually. Excellent product!
Love this collar! I was using a harness prior to purchasing this product. It wasn’t stopping my dog from pulling me. A friend recommended that I buy this collar, and I’m so glad I did. I just give a little tug and my dog yields. I had to remove one of the prongs to make it more snug and it was easy! It’s also very easy to remove when we go to the dog park. I highly recommend this product.

The only prong collar you need: Herm Sprenger
If it’s not Herm Sprenger, then it’s not a true prong collar. I have a German shepherd husky, and it fits her beautifully. I’ve put this collar on my arm, and yanked it with an unnecessary amount of strength, no where near what should be used for a dog lol. No, it did not hurt. It’s even pressure, all the way around. It will cause quick discomfort, NOT pain. Great TOOL for correcting unwanted behavior. RESEARCH how to size, fit, and properly use on your dog before buying. The chain is smooth when giving corrections. It doesn’t feel jerky or like it slips. The color is very nice. Add or take away links for a proper fit, which is easy to do. IF your dog is in between sizes (meaning one link is too big, and removing one link is too small) look up the zip tie hack for prong collars. Excellent craftsmanship and results.

Great Training Tool, Get Secondary attachment for Safety if it comes apart during a walk!
I bought this prong collar and it really does do a great job at training and reinforcement with my dog…if you used correctly and safely. Fitting is key to this. In my opinion the most important part of this, is that this prong collar should NOT be used by itself with the leash only being attach to the prong collar and nothing else as these can and will fall of or come apart in the middle of a walk. Please get an extra attachment to attach your dogs real collar to their leash as a safeguard if/when (mine has fallen off a few times during a walk and every single time it was saved by having a backup connection to their collar/leash) the prong collar falls off.Additionally, there are a few different Herm Sprenger prong collars sold and i actually do not love this one with the swivel ring as it is VERY THIN and can easily slide off your leash clip (hence also the need for a secondary attachment). If I was to reorder one I would probably avoid the swivel ring and get one of the standard original pieces.Overall:Great training tool and really works. Look up some videos online about how to use it on a walk and how not to hurt your dog when using it and it will change everything about your walks.Maybe look at one of the non swivel rings since the ring on this product is very thin.Get a secondary attachment PLEASE.

Best purchase for when communication isn’t clear
Easily one of the best purchases of my dog’s life.If you’re apprehensive about prong-collars, I have three things to say:1) it’s about communication, not punishment2) Buy one and put it on yourself and give it a good tug! You’ll see that even when you tug it pretty good, it’s more annoying than painful.3) It might be less damaging than just a regular flat collar or harness.When I introduced the prong-color to my German Shepherd, it changed our communication completely. It was like night and day. When I was using the flat collar, it was like it wasn’t even registering for him when I gave him corrections because it was far too comfortable for him to just pull on it with full force – to point of choking himself out. With the prong collar, it’s like he immediately realized that when I gave him a gentle pop on the collar to remind him not to tug or to ignore something, he knew what I wanted.We even got to point where I could correct him just by him hearing the clinking of the chain when I pulled out the slack in the collar and he would correct his behavior before I even put pressure on him with the collar (because I left more slack than is recommended). He was definitely hurting himself more with a flat collar or a harness than he’s ever been hurt by the prong collar and walks are so much more enjoyable now.

I am not a fan of hurting any animal which is why I like this setup. It only pinches when they pull and has the ability for a quick release if there is trouble for whatever reason. We’ve been using it for our large dog that has now stopped the pulling. Hopefully when the puppy stage is over, we can ditch the pincher..
