The Original Himalayan Dog Chew is a very long lasting dog chew. Himalayan Dog Chews are made by boiling yak and cow milk and then dried for several weeks to create a hard chew. Dogs must work the end of the treat for hours, softening it with their mouths before small parts of it can be slowly scraped off. It is 100-percent natural with no preservatives. It is an authentic type of cheese eaten by the people of the Himalayas. When you give this Himalayan Dog Chew to your dog, you know that you are providing them with hours of high quality eating entertainment. Packaged by weight, quantities and size vary.

Yak Cheese Himalayan Dog Chews: We specially make our dog chews with an ancient Himalayan recipe from the mountains of Nepal. Each Himalayan dog chew is expertly hand crafted by artisans using ancient techniques passed down through families for hundreds of years.
Just Cheese: This is a totally natural and very nutritious dog treat made with no binding agents, preservatives or additives. Our Himalayan yak chews are crafted from pasteurized yak and cow’s milk using a unique curing process that removes lactose and ensures food safety requirements are met, making them gentle on sensitive stomachs.
Dog Chews Long Lasting: When you give a Himalayan dog chew to your dog, you know that you are providing them with quality chewing entertainment. Our long lasting dog chews can help to keep even the most aggressive chewers busy as dogs must work the end of the yak chew for hours, softening it with their mouths before slowly chewing small pieces off.
Easily Digestible: Himalayan dog chews are better digested than standard rawhide chews and bully sticks. The dog snacks are lactose free, grain free, and gluten free making them easily digestible for any kind of dog breed.
Bacon Flavor: Included is one medium, 2.3 oz bacon flavored Himalayan yak cheese stick – made using our traditional Himalayan cheese recipe, but with added bits of bacon for more flavor! Ideal for dogs 35 pounds and smaller, not for dogs younger than 12 weeks.
Customers say
Customers find these dog chews fantastic, with their dogs enjoying them for hours and keeping them busy for at least 15 minutes. Moreover, they appreciate the product’s quality, noting it’s better than rawhide and has no bad smell. However, the longevity and size receive mixed feedback – while some say they last long and are the perfect size, others report they shatter quickly and are too small for small dogs. Value for money is also mixed, with some finding it worth the price while others say it’s too expensive to use just once or twice.

Wow! The Pugs LOVE these!
I’ll give each of the Pugs one of these Yak Sticks periodically to keep them content while I work out. They will be safely in their crates where I can watch the whole time while I ride my bike, stretch, etc. The size and strength are perfect for my Pugs decreasing the chance of swallowing a big chunk—it hasn’t ever happened with my crew. The sticks must taste and smell *delicious*, because they typically chew until they’re sleepy and ready to nap.Meet Cosette aka Cozy the youngest and tiniest Pug at 11.3 pounds. She has to be part beaver! Over the course of an hour +, she will go on a mission to destroy! It looks like a beaver has chewed these sticks with perfect ridges whittled into the surface! There are tiny whittled pieces of yak stick pulp all over the floor of the crate and on her! She consumes very little of it which is perfect. We have to keep her at a healthy, consistent weight due to elbow dysplasia. She lines her stick up against the side of the crate and proceeds chew them like corn on the cob. They look like they’ve been machined somehow! Photos and videos are attached of what she can accomplish in an hour+ compared to the others! We’ve had no problems with allergies, consuming too much much, losing interest or being harmed in any way which is saying a LOT for a breed that will eat anything that tastes good! Cozy gives them four paws up!Photo is a comparison of what one of the other Pugs does during a chew session compared to Cozy! No big pieces are broken off just a ton of shreds that primarily aren’t consumed.

NOT LONG LASTING
I tried these peanut butter flavored chews for the first time and both of my dogs loved them. (I have a 7 year old husky shepherd mix and a 6 month old mini st. berdoodle – they are both moderate to heavy chewers in my opinion). Although these are supposed to be “8” on the hardness scale like the original flavored cheese chews, these do not last nearly as long – they were gone in one afternoon/one session (I didn’t notice actual time) the same day after I gave them to my dogs. Usually the original chews, as well as the “bone” shaped chews (hardness “7”) last days or weeks, with both dogs chewing and working on them for 30 min. or less each time off and on over a period of days and weeks. These PB flavored ones were expected to be the same, but were EATEN UP entirely the same day. I guess that means the dogs like the flavor, but to a dog parent, not really the best bang for our bucks (because these cost quite a few bucks each!)

Gives a night time break from puppy craziness
We have a 16 wk Aussie who has a ton of energy and doesn’t settle down easily. By evening we’re exhausted but he still wants to play, bite, and get in to everything. The breeder gave us some kind of long thin chew stick that he really liked, and it lasted a couple weeks, but we haven’t been able to find the exact kind to buy again. We bought the Nylabone healthy edibles, but he finished in less than two hours and they always gave him awful diarrhea. We tried bully sticks, but not much interest, same as braided collagen chews. Jumbones also gave him diarrhea and lasted just mins. He really likes the N-bone edible teething rings, but they last less than 30 mins now.I decided to try these and he loves them, has zero diarrhea, and has been chewing for two evenings and barely made a dent. It’s his special night time treat, and also a treat for us. He sits calmly on the couch for up to two hours just chewing. I just ordered two more so we always have one.I will say they seem pretty salty… he’s very very thirsty while/after eating. He drank a whole bowl of water tonight mid way through his chew session, and then more later, and more after.

clarification
Having read reviews for this product (and other similar yak cheese chews), I expected a safe, long-lasting chew that my dog would enjoy without as much risk of choking or adverse health side effects as with other chews. At this price point, though, the chew does not last long enough to be worth the price. While others have mentioned that one of these chews will last weeks, this was not the case with my relatively small (30lb) beagle/hound mix. These chews deserve a star for being healthy. I’ve been told rawhides cause big problems, such as intestinal blockages and choking, they expand in dogs’ stomachs, and they have lots of chemicals and very little nutritional value. I’ve also been told that beef bones can contain unhealthy bacteria (if raw), or can splinter and cause serious complications (when cooked). I’ve been told nylabones can lead to cracked teeth because they are too hard. Antlers and bully sticks seem to be ok, but more on that later. Generally, though, people seem to agree that chewing is an important activity for dogs, to promote clean teeth and gums, and to help expend some excess energy. So, if you’re concerned with your dog’s dental health or you just want to give them a nice safe chew, this is a good alternative, if you can afford to spend that much on chews for your dog. These chews deserve a star for “taste”. My dog is somewhat picky with chews, and tends to avoid unflavored rawhides, doesn’t like his nylabone, isn’t a huge fan of sterile beef bones, and doesn’t have much interest in antlers. He likes the bone-shaped meat-filled treats like busy bones, but they don’t last very long either, and are more like a treat. He also loves bully sticks, but the bully sticks are a little smelly, and can also be expensive. He seems to like the himalayan dog chews as much as he loves bully sticks (though not as much as he loves pig ears), and the himalayan dog chew will last longer than a single 4-6″ bully stick. My dog is not a very aggressive chewer- he usually just takes his time and chews slowly. Still, one of these treats only lasts roughly 90 minutes of total chewing time. The chew also softens a great deal after it gets wet with with saliva, so if I didn’t break up the chewing sessions by taking the chew away and letting it dry out, the chew-time would be far less (since he can chew it much faster when it starts getting soggy). In summary, these are a great treat, they’re healthy, enticing for dogs, and last a bit longer than things like bully sticks or rawhides, but they are not worth the price. I might order a few more as special treats to keep my dog occupied from time to time, but its not very cost effective for my dog, since they just don’t last very long. For regular chews, I’ll be sticking with bully sticks that are available on amazon for decent prices (freeze them to keep down the smell), and these bacon edible nylabones, which my dog LOVES, and which keep him occupied for a little while without being too expensive (but note, they are a crumbly-type chew, so don’t expect them to last more than like half an hour): Nylabone Healthy Edibles Bacon Flavored Bone with Vitamins, Regular, 12-Count Pouch. If my dog were interested in antlers, I would buy those instead of these himalayan chews, because they really do last a long time, and are in the same price range.

Great dog treat!
My pup loves these and I feel they are safe. It keeps her occupied for days! No odor or mess and I think they help keep her teeth clean.

We have been buying Himalayan Yak chews for our dogs for a few years now, from various sellers. Usually they are really hard and last them a long time. These ones the dogs can eat like pigs ears – they chip off in pieces which is making one of my dogs choke. Not sure if it’s a bad batch or this seller’s product is always like this, but I am not going with this seller again.

I was recommended this pressed cheese for my puppy who chews everything — except his toys — by my local pet store. He loves these chews but I didn’t love the price there (they were almost double!!).I like these chews because they don’t come apart in chunks or splinters – they wear down into ‘nubs’, they are natural and simple ingredients and they keep my little guy happy and occupied as he teethes. Also, this does not give him stomach issues and I am not afraid of him choking on it – he chewed apart pieces of Nylabone puppy bones and with these that is not possibleWhen I first bought these I thought it would be totally gross – pressed cheese – but it doesn’t smell or anything and is clean and sanitary for them to chew. This size is for dogs under 35 lbs. I have a small puppy who is around 10 lbs and I could have went down a size.UPDATE: I have purchased several of these now (I buy one a month – my puppy is 17lbs now) and they are still one of my dog’s favorite things and when you get to the end piece – where they can potentially choke on it, you microwave it. These are the instructions on the site:When your dog chews the chew down to a small “end nub” piece where you would normally toss it due to potential choking or swallowing hazards, you can pop it in the microwave for 45-60 seconds (based on an 1100 watt microwave – add 10 second increments if not fully puffed) and it will puff up into a crunchy cheese puff treat that we call yakyPUFFS. Just place the piece in the microwave (NOT recommended to put on a paper towel), puff up, let it cool for 2 minutes and your dog will have a new exciting treat to enjoy!
