Great for people and pets!
I bought this with the intension of giving it to my cat, but I liked it so much that I am keeping it for myself and buying a second for my cat. My cat is turning 15 next month and I wanted to put this under her pet bed to provide warmth all day and night long. I have the K&H electric heating pet bed, but sometimes it gets very hot. I wanted something that I did not have to worry about becoming too hot or having to constantly use electricity.As for the person who complained that their heat pad was made in 2004, I do not think that the number was actually indicating the year of manufacture. Mine says “2126” and that is over 100 years from now. I suspect that it is just the batch number.Why I love it: I have poor circulation in my hands and feet and I discovered this is the best heating pad and foot warmer that I have ever had. Prior to this, I was using various products filled with rice for my feet at night, but they lost heat within a few hours. With this under a few blanket, it will stay warm for 10 plus hours. I never thought that I would be spending $40 on a heating pad, let alone buying a second but here I am and I have no regrets.I chose this brand over some of the others because it seemed to have a very sturdy construction with a nontoxic filling. I considered the Snuggle Safe Pet Bed Microwave Heating Pad (currently $28.99), but I decided against it when I read the reviews about some people/pets getting burned by it in the event that it sprung a leak. Even if this K&H pad started to leak (which is hasn’t so far despite the fact that I accidentally stepped on it), it seems that the cover would offer some protection by absorbing the leakage and therefore preventing the hot wax from pouring straight out. It also seems much less likely that this design would rip open. The seams look very sturdy and it is made of neoprene. The other brand appears to use some sort of plastic or rubber, which would not absorb any of the wax if a leak were to occur.

Awesome heat on the go!
Lucy loves the K&H heated bed so today we tried the microwavable warmer so she can continue to enjoy walks into the fall and winter in Michigan. SHE LOVES IT! …maybe I need one to tuck in my coat too! I’ll definitely use this in the car for her too!

Some of these reviews are dead wrong
This is an awesome product. I use it for my older indoor kitties who love a warm bed to snuggle in. I am using it indoors and have found that it essentially stays warm (in liquid form) for about 8 hours. However, if I notice during the day that it is starting to solidify (the solid portion does not give off heat) I massage the solid portions, pop it in the microwave for a minute, and I’m right back to full liquid.I was really hesitant to buy this after reading some of the reviews. I noticed that people were frequently saying that it had hardened to a point that it would not liquefy in the microwave. To be honest, I really don’t understand this. To make it very simple, put the pad in for 3 minutes- take it out and massage the hard blocks to break them up (you won’t be able to make the solid portion liquefy, you are just aiming to break out the large pieces. Pop it back in the microwave and repeat until no “chunks” are present.I have noticed NO odor to the product and no leakage to date.I have all ready ordered a second one!If you are worried about ordering because of the reviews, I wouldn’t let them stop you. You do have to employ a little common sense, but if you have that going for you you will love this product:)

It’s warm and safe!
I bought this product about 8 years ago to use with my older cats when they needed a safe heat source. I also had another name brand of microwavable disc purchased about 15 years earlier for the same purpose. I wanted to try a neoprene cover/gel to compare to the disc. I like them both for different reasons. This K&H gel is initially softer. I had to replace the initial K&H gel pack I bought when I took it into our clinic to have additional portable heat sources when we were doing an emergency C-section, expecting 8-10 pups. Then my gel pack disappeared :)Versus the initial K&H pack I had, I think this replacement product doesn’t stay warm as long and it seems the gel is harder when cooled. It also doesn’t stay warm for as long as the disc product, but is softer. Not disappointed and still use, but I reach for the disc more often than the gel pack.

Great product until it wasn’t. VERY DISAPPOINTED
I bought this warmer for my outside semi feral cat. He has a house on my enclosed mudroom but I wanted him to stay warm during our recent subzero temperatures. The warmer worked great. It was soft, the heat lasted 10-12 hours, and my cat was warm and comfortable.When I was going to rewarm it for another subzero night, I noticed it was leaking around the edges. I purchased this item December 22, 2024 and it was leaking by January 21, 2025, after less than one month of use. It had been working so well, that I had ordered another one for my elderly cat earlier before the first one failed. Because it kept my outside cat warm during these past frigid nights and days, I returned it for replacement, so I’ll see how they stand up to use this time. However, if I get the same poor results, they are both going back for a refund.

My cat is so happy
Our sometimes incontinent kitty hated going to bed in a separate interior but unheated room until we bought this for him. Now he sometimes puts himself to bed and is usually still asleep when we get up. It does stay warm all night. It’s very hot at first so I wrap it in a towel and place it under several layers of towels and piddle pads. The bed is domed so the extra warmth keeps him cozy. I thought we had a pretty powerful microwave but it takes 8 minutes to heat until all the gel is melted. The cover has a chemical smell that seems to be lessening over time. The only drawback is that the gel hardens as it cools, although after 8-10 hours it is still fairly soft.

I bought them to bring newborn puppies home after a C-section and to resuscitate after delivery they worked very well But they do not hold heat for 12 hrs not even close barely warm after 4 hrs.
