Perfect fit for lr4
I have 3 cats and they would have a long jump competition when getting out of the litter robot 4. I just had the lr4 sitting in a corner and the litter tracking was terrible even with the lr4 litter mat. This enclosure pretty much eliminated 99% of the litter tracking issue. They’re no longer able to freely jump straight out of the lr4. It fits perfectly into the enclosure. The front doors fit poorly at first but they do offer 4 points of adjustment and I was able to get them fairly lined up and operating smoothly.This item comes with a ton of pieces and hardware. It took me about 2 hours to setup.

Overall a great purchase
There are a lot of pieces to this thing, but the enclosed instruction manual is very easy to read, and I was able to lay everything out and compare it to the instructions and knew I had all the parts before I started. This took me 5 hours to put together. It’s not because of the instructions, but more because I have a bad back and knees, and I used the included tools (so no power tools), and I went slow due to my mobility issues.I bought this to hide my Litter Robot 4, which has the Litter Hooper attached. I read a ton of reviews and knew that the fit would be tight AND that I would probably need some type of Lazy Susan as well.Like I said, the instructions are clear and easy to follow. Don’t get into a hurry! Pay attention to the holes on the pieces and match them to the pictures. Taking a few extra seconds to confirm your pieces are oriented correctly compared to the piece to which you are attaching them to will save you a ton of time in the end.Once the piece was put together and placed in the designated spot, I knew I had made the correct choice. It looks like a piece of furniture (it’s in the Kitchen by the window), and while it is big, it blends well with everything around it. I also allowed all 3 of my cats to explore it with the doors open. After about 15 minutes, I closed the door, and they continued going in and out of it using the cat entrance. Once I was convinced that none of them were scared of the enclosure, I started putting it together.The first thing I did was place a mat down on the floor. I did this as an added protection in case one of my cats peed outside of the LR4 and as an added litter catcher as well. On top of the mat, I placed the Lazy Susan I had bought (more about this in the next paragraph). I then placed the LR4 on the Lazy Susan (which is difficult and also explained in the next paragraph), oriented the robot at an angle, closed the door, and then placed another mat outside the cat entrance – and then I waited. All of my cats used it immediately.For the Lazy SusanI initially bought an 18″ round version. What I discovered is that the 18″ is barely big enough; you have to get the LR4 exactly on the right spot in order to get it to swing around and not have the legs of the LR4 hanging off one side of the surface (you must make sure all the feet are on the surface or the weight sensor of the LR4 will not work properly). Since the LR4 can be heavy all by itself, it makes it difficult to maneuver the robot with one hand and scoot the Lazy Susan with the other to get that sweet spot. I later bought a 21″ round version and found that while the round size dimension was perfect, the height was just too tall. The 18″ version was 1.25″ high and the 21″ version was 1.58″ high. So the ideal Lazy Susan would be approximately 21″ round version that is 1.25″ or less in height. I have been looking and can’t find one quite right, so if anyone finds one, please let me know. I’m currently using the original 18″ round version. (The 18″ version is the one the LR4 is sitting on in the photos).For the Angle of the Robot insideWhile you do have the option to place the LR4 where it will face the cat opening directly, this will render the weight sensors ineffective because the LR4 will be touching the side walls of the enclosure. You will want to offset it. I saw pictures of people who had their robot oriented with the Hopper towards the back, but I found it works better for me with the Hopper towards the front of the opening. Not only does it make filling the hopper easier when it gets low, but I also think my cats feel it is more private. Regardless of whether you orient the LR4 with the hopper facing forward or backward, the control panel will remain inaccessible. You will either need to turn the machine towards you (a Lazy Susan will make this much easier) or use the phone app to control the unit. The 2 issues in this paragraph could be solved with some improvements, which I will discuss below in that section.So when I purchased this piece, I had several goals. I will list each one below with the outcome.#1. Hide the Litter Robot 4. This was accomplished and now my kitchen looks more like a kitchen and less like a cat arena. They have a few different styles and the one I chose went very well with my decor.#2. Help with litter tracking. This thing has worked better than I had hoped. The entrance is designed to help catch litter from your cat’s paws and it delivers. I have had this thing for almost a month and I opened up the catcher drawer a few days ago and discovered a ton of litter inside. I just took the drawer over to my litter pale and dumped the excess litter into the bucket for use later! Not only do I not have to sweep up a ton of litter but I’m able to recycle the litter that is captured by the entry drawer. No more extra sweeping around the “cat area”. I just sweep and mop the kitchen as normal. Yeah!!!#3. To help with the smell. I’m happy with this outcome as well. I have several products that I use to help combat smell that works. This enclosure has helped add another layer of odor containment. I really only get hit with the odor when its time to empty the drawer, but that is to be expected.#4. Convenience. This one wasn’t on my list so to speak but it has been a pleasant surprise. I was able to move the trash liners and all odor containing products and place them on the top shelf above the cat entrance. This means that when its time to empty the waste drawer, I don’t have to go running to the pantry to grab everything, its all right there within reach. Would have LOVED to have had another shelf to hold the litter pale as I still have to leave that in the pantry (and I would have paid more for that feature), but having the more used items at hand has been an added bonus!Suggested Improvements.#1. Slightly larger inside. A few more inches (literally 2″ – length-wise) on the inside and it would be large enough to place an LR4 with attached hopper inside without having to angle it.#2. Allowing the cat entrance door to be placed on either side of the piece. Currently, the cat entrance is on the right side which makes the control panel on the LR4 inaccessible. A person is either forced to physically turn the unit around to access the panel or use the phone app to control it. If you designed the item to allow the customer to decide which side it needs to face, that would significantly elevate this product. This one feature is the whole reason I gave a 4-star review instead of a 5-star one. Being able to place that door on the left side would have been a game-changer.#3. An extra shelf next to the existing one. This could also have an adjustable shelf if needed, but is designed to allow a customer to place a bucket of litter (or a bag of litter) on that shelf for convenience. This would add length to the unit. However, you could sell a version without the extra shelf and one with the extra shelf option. This would allow additional versatility to customers to decide between space constraints and convenience. Since I do not have a space constraint, I would have been one of those customers who would have paid more for the added convenience of having the litter right next to my robot with my other supplies.As a side note: The worst part of this whole experience was that FedEx left it out by the curb instead of by my door. I have bad knees and back and this thing is heavy, so it took half an hour to get it inside. This is not a mark against the product and did not affect any stars – it’s just an FYI that FedEx will be doing the delivery and they suck so be sure you have help to get this thing inside if you have mobility problems.All in all, I am happy with my purchase but only because I am using a Lazy Susan in conjunction with this item. I was looking for something that would hide the LR4 but not break my wallet in the process and this met that goal. However, without the Lazy Susan, I believe this would have made emptying the LR4 every few days a big hassle and I would have probably dropped a star. Since I do have a Lazy Susan, it isn’t a hassle at all.If you are looking for something to hide your LR4, this item is not ideal but will certainly work. You will need to be okay with using the phone app to control the unit, having it off-center inside the enclosure to keep the weight sensor functioning, and the tightness of the inside (especially if you aren’t going to use a Lazy Susan). These few negatives that I mention are offset (at least for me) by the convenience of having the LR4 inside an enclosure. You can spend more than twice the amount for the Whiskers credenza or you can buy this one and with a few accessories and adjustments, accomplish the same thing. If you are looking for a large enclosure – get this one.
