The Cutest Water Pets!
Feeling nostalgic and so happy to see that these adorable water pets are back! There’s a bunch to choose from and I love that they each one has a unique sound and swimming style.

Nostalgic
I had one as a kid and was excited to find them again! My 6 year old thinks its so fun. Neither of us really understand the ” games” it offers but that’s ok just to have something cute for her to carry around and moves she enjoys! It seems like its pretty strong and durable. Definitely something I could buy for any age.
Rad Mom –

About 15 minutes of fun…and that’s it.
I got the Axolotl one. Looks cute, but I think the fun of it is way too short lived and leaves a lot to be desired. It’s about the same price as an original Tamagotchi, but a Tamagotchi can still do way more. The Aquapet has a mic at the bottom that can pick up your sounds and respond to it, but not too well. I want to emphasize that it’s “sounds” it responds to, not your voice. You have to get within 1 inch of it for the mic to “hear” you. If you clap your hands hard it will respond but sometimes it doesn’t. You get a better more consistent response if you aim to blow on the mic from up to 12 inches away.It can play a basic matching game where it will move and you memorize and copy it. The issue is your reward for winning is a dance to a song it plays too much. I’ve been playing with it for 30 minutes and it plays the same 1 song as if it isn’t programmed with much content. It’s got one game called “Catch me” that’s really hard to understand. I’ve been fiddling with it for 15 minutes and even read the instructions and don’t understand how the game works. It also has a “Dance Party” feature thats very disappointing. You can teach it any series of left, right, and down moves in any order but it is capped at dancing for only 6 seconds! 6 SECONDS! It won’t dance for longer than that in Dance Party mode! It dances for longer than that in “Try me” mode before you take it out the box! So why a short dance session? It doesn’t have a big library of sounds and songs. I think I’ve heard it make 5 or 6 different reaction sounds when clapping, it makes 1 sound when you have it move right, 1 sound when you have it move left, and 1 sound when you have it move down or go into sleep mode. It has a very cute custom introductory song and dance for “Try me” mode, “Memory game” mode, “Catch me” mode, and “Dance Party mode”…..and that’s it. I have yet to experience anything else new as far as sounds or songs besides these 11 reoccurring sounds. It’s sad because a toy like this could benefit from some kind of voice command, or being able to dance while music is playing in the background or dance while idle. Now, I hear if you pair 2 of them, they’ll dance together and all that. Maybe that will extend the fun and show off more things they can do and more sounds? Not sure.I tried playing music next to it to see if it would at least randomly move while the music played and, to my excitement, it could…but it would make noises every time it moved. It also went into sleep mode in the middle/towards the end of the song so it’s not really made to bob to sounds for too long.I had an Aquapet as a kid and remember loving the idea of having an “aquarium” type toy/pet. I still love the appeal of it now, but I was hoping it could do more. I guess what it can do is fair for the price, but it leaves a lot to be desired. It’s a toy for ages 6 and up but I don’t see it holding a kids interest for very long. But, who knows. Maybe I’m wrong.Cute design, cute concept as a “water pet” but needs more impressive features in my opinion. I’ll keep it as a desk decoration.
