MAX AND NEO – CHAIN MARTINGALE COLLAR

collar sizingcollar sizing

WHAT IS A MARTINGALE COLLAR?

The main difference between a martingale collar and a regular collar is that it tightens up as a dog pulls. The purpose of this is not to choke a dog, but to prevent a dog from escape the collar. Many dogs have heads that are the same size or smaller than its neck. With a regular collar, when a dog backs up from up, it may be able to slip a regular collar. With a martingale collar, when this happens, the collar tightens and prevents it from come up over a dog’s head.

“MANY DOG RESCUES ONLY EXCLUSIVELY USE MARTINGALE COLLARS”

PROPER SIZING

Our martingale collars are measured fully extended. When measuring your dogs neck, please measure his neck near the top portion and be sure to press down through all its fur to get an accurate measurement. Most people do not press down the fur to get a correct measurement. This leads to them over measuring their dog’s neck. And leads to them ordering a size that is too large.

When the collar is on your dog, the metal rings at the ends should not touch. The nylon portion attached to the D-ring should be extended. If you pull on the D-ring and the collar does not tighten, then the collar is too large and must be adjusted smaller.

GREAT FOR TRAINING

A martingale collar also tightens if the dog is pulling on a leash. You can give your dog slight corrections and it will respond much better than if it were wearing a regular collar.

REFLECTIVE COLLAR EFFECTIVENESS

Many other collars use a thin line of reflective stitching or a reflective tape that may peel off if the collar gets wet.

The chain martingale collar uses 2mm wide bands of reflective stitching around both edges of the collar. This gives the collar a large amount of reflective surface area compared to other collars.

Our chains are made with 304 Stainless Steel

* Please note that even high quality stainless steel chains may cause some dog’s fur to become darkened.

Lockable buckle

Our buckles have a locking clasp that prevent accidental release when grabbing onto the collar. This feature is preferred by many shelters and rescues.

Just like the three little bears, this one is just right. Perfect price everything.
This is a very good collar for a dog that is pulling or that you are in training. There is so many out there that claim to be better than the others they are extra padded. They have the little hooks with the little plastic covers. It’s annoying. I had one of those it would flip over the little spikes would be pointing out word it wouldn’t even be doing anything the fabric Cinching part with twist up and just be right next to the dog’s throat. I honestly think this is one of the best ones out there, especially for the price. I don’t like them that are too thick. The thinner the better for me. If I was out doing hunting, I would want a thicker one so they don’t get caught on branches easy but thin for training is what I like the best. It’s reflective. The clip works really good for a plastic clip. It has the locking option. Right out of the package I did not even have to adjust the size. It fit my dog’s neck perfectly and he actually has stopped pulling on the first walk with it. He Is still tries to lead in front he needs work, but this collar is really amazing.

    Well made
This is an excellent collar. It’s sturdy and well made. It’s a little heavy but Lola doesn’t seem to mind at all. (She’s 50# and very strong)She only wears it on her walks as we remove it when she’s home. The control is much better than her previous collar because the chain slides easily.

Wonderful collar for looks and control
I love these collars! I have one for each of my three dogs. The cloth part is comfortable and they have many beautiful colors to choose from; each of my pups have their own special color so it’s easy to know which color fits which pup!The chain is great as it helps the pups to control their manners!I also really like that these collars lock — I didn’t know this so beware — if you are having a hard time opening the clasp, it is likely locked… there is a little switch on the clasp that you can move back and forth to lock and unlock. I found this out years ago when my vet locked the collar after my boy was neutered… I thought they broke my collar! But they were just brilliant and knew more about the collar than I did…The shipping was quick and correct.

Perfect! Max and Neo are the best!
I’m a fan of Max and Neo for sure. I have many, many collars by them because they are the perfect quality and price point, and the company does a lot to help rescues around the states. I have six dogs, all rescues, and all with… quirks. This collar in particular I got for my 80 lb Shepherd/Husky/Bully mix who is a big baby with a curious mind, the intelligence to figure out everything, and the strength to break whatever is in his way… like crates, baby gates, and tie out cables. He pulls on a leash pretty terribly when he wants something, and understands how to manuever himself out of a regular collar. So I got him this martingale one.I like the chain piece, because I noticed with other dogs and other brands of collars, that the fabric types will eventually wear out from consistent use – but chain will not! The nylon is also super sturdy and the buckle, while plastic, does hold him just fine! He has not ever broken out of or pulled out of this collar. I do appreciate that they have locks on the buckle, though I have not needed it. As for training, I can’t speak to that too much, as I haven’t used this collar specifically for training. No collar is a quick fix for anything without supplemental training anyhow. My dog wears this collar (for the most part, I do swap between colors) regularly and it doesn’t bother him. So I assume it’s comfortable enough. It’s a perfect fit for him (and his very thick, fluffy neck) and is definitely reflective! Our security camera catches me walking him at night and I can see the collar very well.Highly recommend for those looking for a martingale collar!

    Length matters šŸ˜†
So far, I’m happy with this collar. I was slightly irritated that the seller didn’t have the length of the sizes listed so I bought a medium to be on safe side. It was WAY too big for my 7month old terrier. I don’t anticipate him growing much more than he is now so I bought another one in a size small which is on him comfortably at as tight as it can go. The only difference between the two, is the length of the metal chain. The nylon part feels pretty sturdy and is a good width, it doesn’t make him look wimpy like some of the skinny ones his size normally are. With that said, I would still prefer the x-small but I’m not going to return for a 2nd time.Small = 13ā€-16ā€Medium = 16ā€-19ā€

Best Collar Out There – Durable, Stylish, and Supports a Great Cause!
The Max and Neo Stainless Steel Chain Martingale Collar is hands down the best collar I’ve ever bought for my dogs! My two littles have theirs in their favorite colors. First of all, the quality is outstanding—the stainless steel chain is super durable and doesn’t tarnish or rust, even after lots of outdoor use. It does not stick when cinched like choke collars are so famous for. The collar feels strong and secure without being too heavy, and the nylon is soft, which means it’s gentle on my dogs’ necks. What I love most is the martingale design, which gently tightens when he pulls, giving me better control without choking or discomfort. My dogs respond so much better with this collar, and walks are so much more enjoyable! Plus, it’s incredibly easy to put on and take off, and it doesn’t get tangled in the fur.As a huge bonus to me being in animal rescue, Max and Neo donates a collar to a dog rescue for every purchase, which makes me feel great about supporting a brand with a purpose. This collar is worth every penny—high quality, great design, and supporting a good cause. Highly, highly recommend for any dog owner—large, medium and small!

    Great item!
This is perfect for my large breed puppy and to use with a gentle lead on walks. It also has a cool lock feature on the collar clasp so the collar cannot be taken off during play with other dogs.

It may be more expensive than some collars on Amazon but this is high quality, well finished and strong. The pink colour is a lovely vibrant hot pink and the high visibility stitching is clear and evident. It also has a small loop to attach your tags to so they hang nicely. Can highly recommend. Can’t comment on the chain changing the colour of the fur as it only arrived today but I’ll update this review if anything changes.

I was searching for a good quality martingale collar for my very strong, stubborn, pulling dogs and came across this one… I LOVED that they gave a collar to rescues for ever ONE COLLAR THEY SOLD! That along with all the positive reviews… made my choice easy even though they weren’t the cheapest. I bought 2, one for each four legged jerk and they are incredible!! Not cheaply made. Very good quality and best of all no more running after my a$$hat of a dog in my jammies first thing in the morning after they slip their giant head (which you would think would house a much bigger brain) from their regular collar! (Yes I do love my stupids more than life itself and am joking..for the most part..šŸ˜‚)
