The Ovation Single Door folding metal dog crate by MidWest Homes for Pets features our convenient and innovative patented “Up & Away” garage style door. The Ovation door stows over the crate & out of the way, eliminating the need for additional space required for a swing-out, hinged door. This is a great choice for apartments or rooms where space is at a premium since the door stows on top of the dog crate and out of the way. To close the door, lift the door and lower into place while releasing the safety catch until the door reaches a closed position. The channel-track door frame adds significant strength and security to the crate and the low threshold of the door allows your pet dog to enter the dog crate comfortably. This dog crate measures 31.5L x 19.5W x 21.5H inches (outside measurements) and includes a free divider panel allowing you to adjust the size of the dog crate while your dog is still growing, a plastic leak-proof pan for easy clean-up in the event of an accident, a strong plastic carrying handle for easy portability and rubber “roller” feet on the bottom of the crate to protect your floors inside the home. The Ovation dog crate folds flat for convenient storage & portability while not in use. We at MidWest Homes for Pets understand that your dog is a part of your family and that’s why we ensure our dog crates are manufactured with the highest quality control standards creating a safe home for your pet that you can feel confident with. Customers say
Customers find the dog crate to be well-constructed and spacious enough for full-grown dogs, with a side door that opens upward and is easy to take down and set up. They appreciate its functionality, particularly for labradoodle puppies, and consider it good value for the price. The door slide mechanism receives mixed feedback – while some say it slides up easily, others report it gets stuck.

Great deal on a great crate!
August, 2022 – I train dogs and have this crate to help potty-train puppies or dogs that have not been properly house-broken. The removable divider makes it so much easier to limit the size of crate to make training much quicker and easier. (Puppies will not pee where they sleep, so limiting the size to a little larger than their body size greatly quickens training as they learn to “hold” their pee.) The divider can then be moved as they grow or totally removed for a grown dog. This was the 1st time I’d ordered an Amazon product that had been returned. The discounted price was a lure and I was not disappointed. The box was a mess, but who cares? The crate was in excellent shape, just as they’d said — and I saved a good bit of change by taking the used product.UPDATE – February, 2025 – I have just sent another successfully-trained puppy out the door using this crate for house-training. Almost every puppy owner has asked me about this crate and I’m happy to give it a 5-star rating! As I mentioned above, I actually purchased it at a discount and couldn’t be happier with the way it’s held up. It was only the carton that was a mess. This crate is well-made!!ONE tricky part – which I actually love and is fantastic once you get used to it — is that the door opens up vertically and then sits on top of the crate itself. Rather than have a dog door which swings out when open (and creates a nuisance), you MUST GRAB the sturdy plastic handle at the top of the door and pull UP slowly and then lay it on top of the crate. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve lent the crate out to a new puppy grad until they get their own crate and they’ve called me to say they “broke” the door! Not so……what they did was grab the crate grid and try to pull towards them or up….WITHOUT pulling the handle. When you look closely, you will notice that Ovation has VERY CLEVERLY constructed the door with safety latches that prevent you from dropping the door too quickly and potentially hurting the dog. One latch is on the handle and if you don’t use the handle to lift the door up, it gets caught and you can’t figure out why the door won’t open…..and some owners panic and YANK the door, causing it to come off of the well-made track and you have a door that is no longer attached to the cage. (If this happens, all you need to do is hold the door up vertically and then gently place the door back on the track. It will be no worse for the wear….my crate is a testimony to that!)There’s also another latch mid-door and two latches at the bottom of the door which will prevent it from closing completely. This keeps the door from shutting on a dog’s paw or head…….and you have to grab the handle in order for it to drop fully. If you’re in a hurry or a panic, you’ll forget to allow the latches to engage or disengage and then get frustrated. It’s really EASY….it just isn’t something you’d expect, so pay attention the first few times and you will love this crate as much as I and my clients do.

Best crate I’ve ever owned
I bought a Kong from Petsmart based on recommendations from Midwest. I hated it! It has the same entry door that lifts BUT it is about 15 lbs heavier (50 lbs) & it is very difficult to open, close & work the doors. I took it back to Petsmart 2 days later & ordered this crate from Amazon.I was a bit concerned initially that it would not arrive in time for July 4th. I was going to order it on June 30th & before I placed the order that night it said guaranteed delivery was on 7/3 so I went ahead & ordered it. Once the order was placed it showed that “expected delivery was about 7/3 but it did not say guaranteed. I called customer service & was assured it would arrive on July 3rd. I was not expecting it to get here in time but it showed up on time as promised & boy did it feel a like it was a lot lighter & it was…about 15 lbs lighter.I had read some of the reviews & was concerned that it wouldn’t be sturdy enough for my flat coated/newfie mix but it is. I was also concerned about him being able to get out of it based on some of the reviews I read. Well, he is not wild or crazy & he doesn’t try to escape but I cannot see how he could get out if the clasps on the sides are closed tightly.I have had it now for 2 days & he has been in & out of it several times & so far it is great. I purchased the single door crate because we have never found a need for 2 doors & based on where we would be putting it in the motorhome that was all we would need especially with a door that opens up & out of the way. If my opinion changes in the near future I will update my review.Pros:1. lighter in weight than many of the wire crates but still very sturdy even for a 67 lb dog.2. The entry door opens up & out of the way which is a big plus for small spaces & we live in a motorhome most of the time so space is limited. This is probably the best improvement that Midwest has ever made in their crates (besides a better lock)3. This crate is easy to open & set up.4. It easily folds & has a clip that holds it together when it’s closed…Much easier than the Kong5. It comes with plastic handles that easily attach so it can be carried like a suitcase when it is closed6. It comes with a removable divider for puppy training7. The wire is a medium gauge that is perfectly suitable for med-large dogs8. The door opens very easily & folds back to sit on top of the crate when you want to leave it openCons:So far I haven’t found anyI have had several Midwest Crates over the last 30 years & this is by far the best one. I stick with Midwest because they are the best quality (in my opinion). The wire gauge & overall weight s lighter than the Kong but the same as the Life Stage. The Icrate is the lightest & the lightest gauge wire. Before buying this I called Midwest & got all the specs on the weights (interesting that they didn’t know the weight of the Kong. If they had or it had been listed on the box I never would have bought it), wire gauge & technical specs on vertical & horizontal wires. Based on what I had told them about my dog they recommended the Kong so I went to Petsmart bought it. Based on some of the reviews I read on Amazon I agreed with them but after owning both of the I think that the Ovation is sturdy, well built & I cannot really see how a dog could get out of it if the people using the crate made sure that the clasps were properly attached at the side walls. In my opinion this is a great crate & while it’s not the sturdiest, unless you have a very large, heavy dog that is very rough, bounces off the sides & an escape artist the Ovation will do a great job. If you have a dog that is what I just described & you have no concern about having a 50 lb crate to lift & move around than I suggest you go into a Petsmart & buy the Kong. It is ONLY available from them & in their stores. Be prepared to spend $170 for it!

Awesome customer service
I needed a cage that the door lifted up on instead of opening outwards because we have limited space and everyone was always hitting their legs on the open door of our old crate. When I received this crate in the mail the box was torn and the pan that goes in the bottom of the crate was cracked and broken on one end. I contacted the company before requesting to return the item. They were very nice and they are sending me a replacement tray. I can’t wait to use this crate. My puppy loved it while I was putting it together. I couldn’t keep her out of it. She likes to chew on everything so I couldn’t leave it up with the broken tray. The crate is made very well and I am sure that the pan wasn’t easily broken. I believe that it fell pretty had during shipping. I will update the review if something happens and my view of the crate changes for any reason but as for now I am very satisfied.

Well made, heavy duty, dog crate.Strong an secure when in use, but is easy to collapse for for storage.Love the garage style door, which flips over to be completely out of the way when it’s open, though it can occasionally be fiddly to open one handed, as there’s a catch you have to release once it’s half way up.Would be nice if they could put a side door on it, which would make it perfect.Well worth the money and will last for years.

Cage is a great size, need to use the barrier to make it smaller for a 7 month old 100 lb Mastiff and he still has lots of room to grow. The pull up door is awesome, I have been using traditional crates for 20 years and this design works really well. There is quite an overlap on the edges of the door but I am not sure if a dog desperate to escape would be able to pull the door open, my guy is crate trained so this is not a problem. Only issue so far is that the pan slides forward a tiny bit into the bottom of the door sometimes making it hard to lift, would be nice if there was a clip to stop the tray from slipping forward.
Ottimi ma ordine arrivato danneggiato e ne ho avuti la meta pero non si puo fare reso –

50 pound, 6-month old Weimaraner (still growing) has lots of room in here. I love the fact that the door opens upward and sits on top – and my toes love that I don’t constantly stub them on the door as a result. It feels more sturdy than other crates because of the way the door opens. I don’t feel like I need to add zip ties all around to keep my dog contained.LOTS of room, and lots of room to grow still.. It may be bigger than I need, but I like that. 🙂
