Excellent food if you want a grain-free diet
My four month old Shih Tzu puppy loves this food. I spent many, many hours researching dog foods and believe this one is very high-quality.Important: there is a big debate about whether or not dogs should have grain in their diet. Taurine is a focus of the debate — taurine being important part of the diet. Some sources say it is best to use ingredients that are high in taurine and organ meats, and to avoid legumes. It is difficult to sort through all of the reviews because many of the articles contradict each other. My vet recommends including grain. Of course you should use whole grains — not wheat and corn filler, not white rice, etc.I mix this Orijen with a different product that contains grain (Blue Buffalo Puppy Food). Orijen does not make food that contains grain. If they did, I would buy it. I mix them 50% and 50%. I have not started using canned food yet but when I do I will use one that contains grain.The size of the kibble is good, although I would like a smaller size if it were available. My dog only weighs 4 pounds so she needs a small kibble. She has no problem chewing it and swallowing it though. When she was younger I used a smaller size kibble. You can always soak it in warm water as well.

Dog Loves It
I have tried others including Farmina, BLUE Wilderness, Taste of the Wild etcetera, but my dog/puppy loves this. The groomer asked what food he is fed as his coat is soft/shiny. I have to say this is the only food he eats consistently. The others when mixed with this will be left in the bowl and not touched. I gave up on other brands (BLUE Wilderness and Taste of the Wild) that I had fed for years to my other dog (passed away few years back).Never a problem with quality on this and always fast shipping. This smells “fresh” like good dog food should. I see others say the product has changed, but since I have only been using it for 6 months, it’s not for me to judge. I want to switch him off puppy food , but being a small breed I believe most of the other Orijen products are large kibble. Will be checking with them.

Great puppy food
After all the Chinese pet food recalls (and deaths) I did a lot of research before we got our puppies and this food was the clear choice for them. We have fed our collie and beagle puppies nothing but this food since we got them at six weeks old (they are each six months old now). They love it and the vet’s exact words about the beagle were “beagles are really prone to getting fat, but whatever you’re feeding this one keep it up, she is literally perfect.” Plus I love having the peace of mind that its 100% made in North America so we won’t ever have to worry about cheap and toxic Chinese ingredients.

Great quality food hands down!!
This is the second bag I purchased but first through Amazon. The quality of this product is so evident in the coat skin and activity level of my puppy you need good fuel to be able to train well. This is great. Just pricey.

So good it smells strong!
My Bordercollie ate this for 18 months! Then we switched to the adult version. I like this brand because it’s the HIGHEST PROTEIN that I have seen in kibble. My dog is active and growing, not to mention that I love her because she’s family – so she gets this! She also gets real meat that I cook for her, but with this kibble twice a day I have the confidence that she is getting a balanced diet. This kibble stinks! But that’s good for your dog…it’s rich and full of good stuff. Just get the kibble vault to store it in and to keep it fresh. My house doesn’t smell like dog because I keep the kibble in an airtight vault.
