How did we get our start?

Environmental friendly poo bags that do not tear
Love these bags! They open easy, holds good amount of poo, and we have never had them tear. We have two dogs so being able to buy a large quantity saves us money. I cannot speak about their compostability since we live in an apartment complex and unable to compost them, but like the idea that we are not using plastic bags.

Honestly? No notes. Quality? Exceptional. No more of that mind melting rage from not being able to open the plastic bag from EITHER END, no matter how much you smooth it around with your fingers. Bags feel thick, they’re an incredibly soft plasticy texture instead of the crinkly grocery bag material baggies, easy to tear, easy to open, doesn’t rip easily, literally as long as they’re as eco friendly as they claim – I couldn’t ask for anything else from a poop bag.

You can tell these are truly biodegradable and made of plant starch unlike some brands that green wash and still sell you a plastic bag.I bought these when the usually earth friendly brand now longer carried the ones I liked. I have never had any issue with the durability of these. They have lasted while in storage and do a great job. The first ones I purchased did have a really sticky sticker on the roll which would tear the first bag when you tried to open but the ones I have recently purchased have new stickers that do not cause this.

Lots of potential–not quite there yet
I don’t know why, but it was way easier for poop to get on my hands using these bags than the Earth rated ones I’d been using. Maybe they weren’t as deep? my dog likes to poop in long grasses and tends to make a mess too so that’s partly on him. It was fine, I just started to realize I needed to pay more attention particularly when the pup had diarrhea. It also was kind of a pain to get them into my bag holder because (as another reviewer mentioned) the bag roll is initially too thick and it took at least 3 if not 4 for it to fit in. It also was kind of a pain to get them through the hole so that they would unroll as necessary–they always seemed to get weirdly caught on something and then I’d have to take the roll out all together. These bags are cool, I’m excited about the idea that they’re compostable, but they were a little bit of a hassle and the price is currently significantly higher at the moment ($11.99 for 120 vs. $13.29 for 260 at Earthrated–could also be worse especially with other compostable bags). I know these are better for the environment, but in terms of convenience, they aren’t quite there yet. On the other hand, you can feel really good about yourself if you do use them because they are a bit of a pain. I’ll definitely keep an eye on compostable bags and try them again in the future but I don’t think I’m going to be switching over to them just yet.

The real deal, buried under a virtual tsunami of plastic & fake-eco products
I’m glad that so many of my fellow Amazon shoppers are climate conscious, but it’s depressing to see how, over the past decade, we’ve replaced the use of plastic bags at grocery stores with even more single-use plastic dog poop bags!! At least the old plastic grocery bags were re-usable, including as poop bags.Amazon seems to want us to buy the plastic and pseudo-eco-friendly crap because that is all you’ll find if you search for poop bags. You’ll find all the buzz words, like Earth, Eco, Green, USDA-certified, and Bio-Degradable, but if you read the fine print, you realize that they’re almost all made with plastic (made with corn doesn’t mean NOT made with SOME plastic) and, therefore, not actually compostable. Well, thank goodness for Pawtopia! Not only are their bags the real deal, the bags themselves are top notch: thick, easy to open, and large enough that I’ve been able to pick up a second poop after tying off the first one (my dog’s poops are smaller). I’ve tried MANY brands of bags because I travel with my dog and many hotels include poop bags as a pet amenity. I would rate Pawtopia’s at the very top of the pack.
