Comfortable, well-made product that solves the problems caused by pets lying on the couch
Our dog loves to wait until the humans are out of the room, jump up on the sofa and then look guilty when we come back in. I actually want her to be able to enjoy lying on the sofa just as we do, but I’m afraid that her long, sharp nails (which she hates having trimmed) will put holes in my beloved leather couch, just as she did recently with my daughter’s brand-new Away suitcase (sigh!). She also tends to shed black hair all over. So I was throwing an old comforter on the couch for her, but it looked ugly and I definitely didn’t want to keep it on the couch all the time just in case she felt like enjoying a sofa nap. This couch cover is an ideal solution, since it’s thick (see photo of the side), soft and comfortable for our pet but also looks really nice. In our case, the dark brown corduroy goes really nicely with my light brown leather sofa. I like that the cover can be machine-washed and machine-dried and that the bottom grips the sofa. As I think this is a very practical product and well-made (with nice padding and stitching), I am giving it 5 stars despite a minor limitation. Although the smallest size is quite inexpensive (currently $19.99), these mats do get a bit more expensive as you go up in size and the smallest size would only really fit cats and small dogs. Also, you can put the cover on the couch, but that doesn’t mean that your pet will be willing to sit on it instead of choosing a spot elsewhere on your couch. (This is especially true for us, since our leather sofa tends to be cooler than corduroy, which is attractive during the summer months.) So if you really want to make sure your pet sits on the cover and not on your couch, you would need to get a cover that extends the width of the sofa. My only other recommendation is for the seller. Although the colors currently offered (brown, gray and white) work well for me, since I have a plain brown leather sofa, it would be helpful to have more color choices for those customers who have more exciting couches. But otherwise I think this is a very practical, comfortable product that solves the problem of pets shedding or tearing up the sofa.
