Does the job, sensor is a little too sensitive.
Effective but super sensitive. I can’t decide between 4 or 5 stars, but in the end, this thing works really well for keeping my cat away from my plants. We had issues with him digging in the dirt, chewing on the leaves, and once killed a plant from peeing in the dirt…Something had to be done, so I thought I would try this, and it works amazingly. HOWEVER, the motion sensor is super sensitive. They show pictures of this on a counter, but just walking by the thing will set it off. I wish it was a little less sensitive. I solved this problem by pointing the sensor towards my plants so that the cat will need to walk between the sprayer and the plant to set it off. This works great, and checking around online, the spray does not harm the plants, and the couple of times it has gone off, I’d agree the plants seem just fine.Just make sure to turn it off with the button if you plan to do anything around your plants, like pruning or watering. Unfortunately, the can only has so many sprays until you need to buy a new one, so keep that in mind when working on them.I also found that the motor that pushes down the sprayer is pretty loud; the sound alone scares my cat, so if this can runs out, I may just leave it and see if the sound alone will deter him. So far, he has only found out the hard way once and has seemed to learn his lesson quickly, so the only reason I see needing to replace the can is when my daughter keeps setting it off when she goes by the plant.

Waste of Money
I have successfully used Ssscat sensors for years, but this “2nd generation” product is garbage. The sensor doesn’t work at all. My cat walked back and forth in front of the unit repeatedly, without anything happening at all! I am so disappointed in this purchase! It SHOULD be super easy to use, but I only managed to set it off a handful of times by waving my hand right in front of it. I thought it was a battery issue, but replacing the batteries didn’t make a difference. The original product that was just a battery operated sensor that attached to the top of the spray can, worked perfectly for my cats. After almost two decades of use, most of my original ones have stopped working properly. I really wish I could get the same ones I had before. Other companies sell similar products, but they have to be charged regularly. I prefer the battery operated ones. I worked in a vet clinic for 27 years, and recommended the original product many times, with successful results. At this point, I would never recommend THIS product. The company needs to reevaluate their product, and fix this issue that so many are having. When it costs this much and can’t be returned, it’s not worth even trying it. If you’re on the fence about trying the 2nd generation Pet Safe Ssscat sensor, DO NOT BUY it. Buy one of the products that sits on top of the spray can. You will be much happier!

If I could give this 10 stars I would! We put out on the front porch where the neighborhood cats think they have a right to be. Note to cat owners, keep your cats in YOUR yard. The ring doorbell caught the action of the soul leaving a cat after this awesome addition performed well! I am still giggling!Updated couple days later. We bring in every morning so SSSCAT is not in the sun. My husband was outside and the neighbor toddler came over to see him. Toddler usually goes on the porch to look at flowers and the SSSCAT saw him and scared the peawaddin out of him! My husband was laughing uncontrollably as Rowan asked “What was that?!!!”

Decent function and it helps train cats
Our cat is a serious plant eater, eating the heck out of the indoor kitchen herbs and pepper plants! This has solved that. It scares the poo out of the cat and so there is no plant eater returning any time soon. Every now and then the cat tests it again but overall, it has been an excellent deterrent and now our indoor plants can actually grow! We put one under the Christmas tree to keep her from climbing up the tree. Sometimes it doesn’t go off, usually it does. Since ordering these we have not lost one leaf to the plant bandit. And kitty stays out of the Christmas tree and out of under it.A couple notes for consideration: To water your plans you can turn it carefully away if it’s facing a wall but don’t forget to carefully turn it back. If moved slowly like that, facing a wall, it doesn’t typically spray. That can be easier than turning it off and then back on. Not a big deal either, you just need to check the lights to make sure it is at the right setting, off or on.The other warning is toddlers and energetic kids. You need to warn them about it if it’s in an area they might go. It could scare them, but once you tell them about it, it could become a game so you might have to move the sprayer from the area until the kid is not in the area. This is likely an issue more with guests as a kid living in your own home understands the rules and the novelty would likely not continue, anyway.It sometimes sprays when you might not want it to because a curtain moves in a breeze (if you are trying to keep a cat out of the window) or because you forget and get in the way. But that is circumstantial and not a malfunction. Sometimes it won’t go off if a cat is verrrrry slow and sneaky. Usually, it will. There is no doubt that this thing does work, and it is worth getting. One can will probably be enough to train a cat and to cover all the oopses that set it off.

It works to repel cats but it is only appropriate for guarding a specific approach where you need to stop the cat but you won’t be crossing the same space yourself. Given how expensive the refills (and the units) are you don’t want the spray activating all the time.

It doesn’t work in my cat… only on me. I put it by the place i don’t want her to be but it doesn’t sensor her movement so it doesnt spry when she goes then when i go to check it spry me instead 💩 also its stoped working after a while even after i changed the battery, for the price its the worst thing i ever bought
