    Researched, Tested, Approved!
Like with anything you want to teach your puppy you have to start young! I also ask you ready the entire review as I did tremendous amount of research before purchasing this product and I believe I have solutions to many of the problems people have had in their reviews. I acquired a purebred chocolate lab when she was 8 weeks old. Initially all I had was some generic puppy pads that I had purchased from a local grocery store. I gated her in a small space while I was away (not in a crate) and she was using these for pee and poop. However the pads were a pain to continually clean up and after one or two pee’s she was disinterested in using them and would have accidents. At about 10 weeks I had purchased the Tinkle Turf and received it the next day along with the Simple Solution X-LARGE PADS. The idea was that I would use the pads underneath the Tinkle Turk. I tried this combination in the small space while I was gone and it was next to the door when I was at home and while I was asleep there was just a pad next to the bedroom door. This worked beautifully! Eventually I rewarded her for using the Tinkle Turf with more space she could roam within the house. Eventually the Tinkle Turf stays next to the back door to the yard and she has had zero accidents and has free reign to the house. In face when I’m home I keep the back door open (do not have a doggy door) and when she has to go she finds the Tinkle Turf, notices the door is open and just goes outside! I believe the success of this product was small steps and the Simple Solution Training Pads. The two major problems (and one minor one) I’ve read is getting the dog to use the Tinkle Turf as well as the smell/cleanliness of the Tinkle Turf itself as well as a flimsy plastic tray. The easiest way to combat both of these problems is the Simple Solution X-Large Pads. When ordering these pads keep in mind they are mad to fit the Tinkle Turk. Don’t let this discourage you because when you place the pad in the middle of the Tinkle Turf the pad absorbs all pee from your dog. Additionally the pad also has an attractant that will help aid your dog in using the Tinkle Turf. I suggest that you start our forcing your dog to be in a small space with the Tinkle Turf however not to small (I put mine in the kitchen and allowed my pups to use the hallway has her play area. Then slowly let the area grow. Now, I had nay sayers claiming she wouldn’t use it when I moved it to the back door. But dogs are smarter then we give them credit for. All you have to do is show them where its at, their noses will do the rest (that’s where the attractant comes in). Then reward your dog with more access to the house and test if they are able to seek out and use the Tinkle Turf. The second problem is the smell. I change the pad once a day (when I get home for the day) at that time (every other day) I will rinse off the Tinkle Turf. I have a hose in the back yard so I spray it down and let it dry in the Arizona Sunshine however simply hanging it up will just be fine. When you rinse it off you will see that the syntheic grass it self won’t retain any liquid. Its the plastic underneath of the Tinkle Turf and the plastic tray that will retain smell. However if you have the Training Pads it not only makes clean up extreamly easy it also prevents any smell that people are worried about. The third and minor problem is people say the plastic tray breaks easily. I have a lab puppy and she runs and jumps on it, chews on it. Not to mention I initially transferred it everyday from my kitchen to the back door. I don’t know what they are doing but I have not had a problem with it.To sum everything up, I love it. If you train your dog right with it and clean it by a simple rinse (no chemicals) plus the puppy pads. You’ll be just fine! My puppy is 4 months old, only uses when she absolutely needs it and we haven’t had any accidents. Its made puppy potty training so easy and no headaches! In my next installment I have a 3 month old Italian Greyhound entering the household and I will be attempting to litter box train him as well as the Tinkle Turf. Look for that review in the next month or so. I hope I’ve helped you make your decision on purchasing this fantastic item.

Great Product, Dogs Love I and Prefer It to Great Outdoors
This product far exceeded our expectations by a lot. We have two small dogs, and when it rains, they do NOT like to go outside to do their business, especially for the night runs. (And we don’t like getting wet!) When the first rains fell, we placed the mat outside, under a sealed deck (dry area), and the dogs IMMEDIATELY knew what to do. They use it ALL the time now, rain or shine, and prefer it to the backyard, where the grass can be a little high for their low form. We rinse the matt each day, let it dry out, and it’s ready for the next use. The dogs don’t mind if the mat is a little wet, they still prefer it and do their business much more quickly. We bought the LARGE mat just because we have enough space, and the dachshund needs the larger mat to turn around. I accidentally stepped on the plastic liner, which cracked on one side. I wish the plastic liner was a little stronger and more durable, but that’s a small quibble compared to the huge value of this product. I would buy it again in a second, and recommend it highly. It really works! And the dogs love it.

Awesome product…if you use it right!!
I was skeptical about this when I first bought but I am so glad that I did. It’s such a life saver if you live in an upstairs unit, especially with little dogs. I have two, ten pound yorkies. They use the medium size and it’s perfect for them. They love it and there was minimal training involved. It seemed instinctual for them to use it which was awesome. I could see this being a total disaster if you don’t utilize properly so just some advice for those of you who are considering purchasing:Do NOT use this inside. First of all, it’s disgusting. You should never train your animals to go inside of the house. Whether it’s a potty pad or grass, whatever. It’s a no, don’t do it. Secondly, it will smell…it just will. You don’t want a grass patch filled with urine sitting in your home. This is a great solution for someone with an upstairs deck/patio or to put in a small backyard without grass. It’s hard to leash up, & take small dogs all the way downstairs and outside your apartment unit every couple hours. Definitely try to get them to go on their walks as much as possible but it’s great for in between.Put a potty pad underneath the grass and change it every couple days! If you don’t, the urine will pool up underneath and it will soak onto your dogs feet & track into your home every time they use the pad. I change the potty pad every other day and completely clean it will a hose, dish soap, 409, and bleach 1-2 per week. DON’T put this in your washing machine…..I see all of these people saying they clean it in the washing machine….um ew…that’s disgusting..? Just take it downstairs and hose it off lol.Pick up the poop right away, definitely. Keeps it cleaner, dogs won’t step in it.Lastly, after awhile, this thing will for sure permanently smell and need to be replaced, which is understandable. have had mine for about 5 months and it’s time for a replacement grass. Overall, great product, and an amazing solution!

Bought this for my puppy and let me say, it is the best thing ever! We live in a condo on the 25th floor, so when we first got our puppy, taking her all the way downstairs 7-10x a day to pee was a mission! Most of the time she wouldn’t be able to hold it and would either have an accident in our condo as we were getting ready or she would pee in the elevator/hallway on the way down. I ended up buying this to put on our balcony and she took to it right away! Now we’ve trained her to ring the bell on the door whenever she needs to go! I bought the largest size so I’m not able to get it through the door to empty it without spilling, so I bought a small bucket to dump the pee into, and then go empty that in the toilet. I’ll rinse it out in the shower every couple weeks just so then it doesn’t develop a smell. Overall a great product and would highly recommend for anyone potty training puppies or if you live in a condo/apartment!

I got this for my deck because I knew my puppy would be larger and I didn’t want to be carrying her outside to pee and it was a bit of a walk to get to the grass. It worked great. I put puppy pads under the mat so I could just take them out every day instead of trying to dump a tray of pee. She is almost 4 months old now and can hold her pee a little better so she is using it less. I thought it was rather pricy so I tried to get a boot mat and find the carpet my self but the carpet is rather expensive, I checked to buy it from a roll or as a mat that I could cut to size. It was actually comparable in price for me to buy it online, maybe if you really looked into it you could make it yourself cheaper…

My puppy loves this grass and adapted very quickly to it. The biggest downfall is the quality of grass. My pup likes to scratch before she pees and has scratched out and ate a lot of the plastic grass pieces. I would have liked to see this product with tougher grass for sure. It is a choking hazard for smaller pups and I am sure, not good for their tummies either. I recommend using pee pads under the turf to absorb the pee better. Makes clean up a lot easier :)I gave a 4 star because other dogs might not get into the grass! I wish it was a little different for my case.

It’s a great item and our little dog uses it but it’s a pain to clean. The “turf” comes off when I try to clean it and leaves a huge mess.

A bit pricey but worth every penny! My new dog is a tiny rescue chihuahua from Texas and I was terrified of how she’d react to our brutal Canadian winters. She is now fully trained to go on the tinkle grass for those days she doesn’t want to be outside.
