A Better Pet Bandage
Comfortable For Your Pet & Convenient For You!
Our Story
WHO WE ARE
We are a large, pet-loving family from Connecticut. Over the years, we’ve had over 14 dogs in our lives. More recently, our two yellow labs, Nauset and Brewster, became prone to acral lick dermatitis, a common condition in many dogs. Once the itch-lick cycle started it was hard to stop and quickly grew into a large raw open sore. We tried applying tape, but after constant licking and pulling, the tape unraveled and they were back at it. The vet prescribed a cone as the only solution, however, it was not a solution for us. Neither the dogs nor our home could tolerate the irritation and destruction.
Our dogs are very active, and the cone completely disrupted their day. They couldn’t run, wrestle, fetch, play, go for a hike, or even hop up into the car! Not only was their active lifestyle disrupted, but even simple tasks like eating and drinking, climbing the stairs, and snuggling on the couch were a constant struggle. One pass by the coffee table and everything was on the floor! The pups were unhappy and so were we. As proverbial necessity is the mother of invention, so began the search for better wound protection.
HOW IT STARTED
Our kitchen island became the workbench. As different materials were researched, tried, and tested, daily deliveries of materials became routine. An exacto-knife carved out prototypes and Nauset and Brewster became the test subjects. The prototypes were put through a battery of tests, including comfort and durability, ease of application, and lick resistance. For over two years the bandage was developed and perfected, which led to a patent issued on December 25, 2018. Since then, ProudPet Patch production has moved off the kitchen island and onto the factory floor but still remains a small family-owned and operated business.
The ProudPet Patch was born out of the need to find an alternative to the cone and morphed into something so much more – a better, kinder bandage for wound care, with several other advantageous features. It has been a lifesaver in our home, and we want to share it with all other pet parents who call their pups family, just like us.

The Ultimate Dog-Friendly Alternative to Traditional Cones!
Is your furry friend recovering from a minor injury or surgery? Say goodbye to the discomfort and stress caused by traditional cones with our innovative and patented Proud Pet Patches! Engineered with your pet’s well-being in mind, this dog bandage provides a gentle and effective solution to keep your canine companion safe and comfortable during the healing process.

A Game Changer
The Proud Pet Patch provides the most comfortable bandage for your pet and the most convenient bandage for you.
The outer surface of the bandage is made of a velcro brand hook material that discourages pets from licking or chewing. You can easily view the progress of healing through the holes in the top of the bandage and there is no need to remove the bandage.
Best Used For: Hot Spots, Acral Lick Dermatitis, Stitches and Wounds on Legs

Proud Pet Patch Sizing
Our bandages come in 4 different sizes from XS-L to fit any size dog. We use adjustable, velcro straps to help ensure pads are not wrapped too tightly around the limbs and to ensure comfort and moveability with your dog Pictured above is a 120 lb lab with different sized wounds. Each of our straps from XS-L would fit this dog depending on the wound. Below are general weight limits for the size of your dog. All sizes will most likely fit a large dog of over 100 lbs depending on the wound size. A small dog like a chihuahua though will probably not need anything over an XS.

FAQs
Does the Proud Pet Patch bandage work on all dogs?
Yes, though it is not recommended for puppies. The bandage comes in 4 sizes. Refer to the size chart in the online shop. Also, the size of the wound should be taken into consideration. You don’t need a large bandage for a small wound. Choose the bandage according to the size of the wound.
What is the bandage best used for?
For hot spots, lick granulomas, stitches and wounds on both front and hind legs.
What precautions should I take when using the bandage?
-Monitor as you would monitor the cone.
-Do not tie the straps too tight. As with anything tied too tight, this can cut off circulation.
-The velcro used to make the patch extremely uncomfortable to lick, may stick to certain fabrics, especially knits.
-Position the strap to avoid any irritation to joints or toes.
What is a lick granuloma?
Lick granulomas are a chronic skin problem caused by excessive licking and very difficult to cure. They are open sores and if left unresolved, long term repercussions can include scarring, permanent hair loss, OCD, stress & anxiety.
How long does a bandage last?
About a week, it’s really dependent on your pet’s activity. Remember 2 bandages come in every order.
Are the bandages reusable?
Typically not once the inner adhesive is removed. The bandage can be used without removing the adhesive covering and then the Velcro straps become the sole means of holding the bandage in place. This can extend the use of the bandage.
Does the ProudPet Patch completely replace the need for the cone?
For wounds, dermatologic conditions (hot spots, lick granulomas) and post-surgery healing stitches on pet’s front or hind legs, the Proud Pet patch is a great alternative to the dreaded cone.
How do I apply the bandage?
Very easily with no need for gauze or tape. Simply remove the adhesive covering, press down, then apply the Velcro straps. Please view the 1 minute instructional video or package insert for further details.
What is the best way to remove the bandage?
If the bandage doesn’t come off by gently pulling it like a normal bandage, rubbing an alcohol swab or soapy water along the edge of the adhesive will weaken the adhesive.
“My dog ripped the bandage off right away – what should I do?”
As with anything new it’s important to closely monitor your pet until they get comfortable with the Proud Pet Patch. Some dogs adapt quickly and in other cases, a cone may have to be used until the dog gets used to it. The bandage is extremely comfortable for them to wear, and extremely uncomfortable for them to lick.
How many do you recommend buying in an order?
One package containing 2 bandages should last about 2 weeks. This is the typical time for dermatologic wounds and healing stitches. If there is a chronic problem (i.e. lick granulomas or hot spots), you may need more.
How many bandages are in a package?
Every order comes with 2 bandages in a package.

great product if your dog wont stop licking a wound
these are a gamechanger, my dog is a terror with a cone she knocks things over and uses it as a weapon. Shes a medium dog (40 lbs) and had a hotspot on her back leg that we couldn’t keep her from licking. I bought the S size and probably could have used the XS. the bandage is like a rectangle with velcro on the top and a foam ring around the perimeter that has adhesive on it, the adhesive does most of the work so you dont really need to make the straps very tight. She tolerated it extremely well. Theres a window in the middle you can open to check on healing or to apply medicine.

Didn’t work for German Shepherd
This lasted about 2 hours on one leg, replaced with the second one and it lasted an hour. It’s a good design and should work on dogs not so determined with big teeth!

I was Skeptical but I’m a BELIEVER.
This is a wonderful product! My german shepherd constantly licks her 1 paw and she is so dramatic that she will not move if we put a cone on her, but since I put this on her she has left it on and alone and it’s been 4 days already. I chose not to remove the sticky adhesive part that sticks directly on her fur because she had alot going on in that area that I didn’t want to aggravate and it has stayed on perfectly with it. I will definitely refer people to this especially in my german shepherd family and thank you for a great product that has helped my best friend.

Not strong enough
Yeah the wound breaths and heals and this is the best thing we found so far besides the cone of shame. The spray is amazing, instant relief, you can see the change in our dog immediately. There are still edges, which means our dog can still get to it and chew it up. We used duct tape over the whole thing to prevent this and it worked great. Until last night when it slipped (i did not tape well) and we are now back to square one.

Great idea if you have a cooperative pet
After trying to use gauze and tape to no avail I was so happy to find these. For the first few hours our dog left it alone and I thought we’d hit the gold mine. However I noticed that he had just pushed it down his leg so I went ahead and let the adhesive do it’s thing. It stayed on overnight but a few hours later doggo had chewed it off his leg with some blue stuff stuck to his fur. It came off after a day or two. It’s a great idea and probably works well for some pets.

Does not work for large long hair breeds
Our large long hair GSD recently developed pressure sores on his elbows after a leg injury with a long recovery time. Elbows in general are a nightmare to pad or bandage and we were so excited to try this product after trying everything else out there. The foam squished down completely flat on a large dog so it didn’t provide any padding, the adhesive was terrible and didn’t stick at all, and yes I removed the backing. Also the velcro straps are tiny and I mean TINY. Not just in width but also length, and they popped right off within 5 minutes of use. Thd entire square pad is covered in serious velcro so the second he brushed against the couch it stuck to the side and ripped right off his arm. The edges of the pads are also extremely sharp plastic and I ended up with 2 sliced fingers just trying to get the straps in place which also made me nervous for our dog to end up with cuts. If you have a large long hair dog breed don’t waste your money.

Care and comfort for my dog and Easy and convenient for me
My yellow lab licked open a really bad spot on his forearm and had to wear a bandage. This ProudPet Patch was so easy. It covered the spot without rubbing against it and I didn’t have to take it off to check the wound, put ointment or give it air through the access holes. All with the bandage still on. No messing with tape, gauze and pulling off the old bandage. Th package of 2 lasted MOre than 2weeks and by then the hot spot was all healed up. Rich H

Extremely painful to remove
The adhesive on this bandage is very strong. When I tried to take this off my Lab mix, it ripped her fur and she loudly yelped in pain and ran away from me. She is usually really good when she has shots and blood drawn, so it must have been really painful for her to text like that.

It was covered in mold from the spray leaking out somehow. Our post office showed me then threw it out since at that point it was a hazard to them but I did see it. Hopefully once it says I got tbe order I can get a refund. Just terrible.
