Great food at a great price
We’ve always tried to treat our dogs like they’re family, and for us that included giving them what we believed to be better quality food. For years, that involved one of the grain-free “natural” foods from some other brands. However, in the last couple years, vets and the FDA have seen a sharp increase in cases of dilated cardiomyopathy with the only common factor being those exact foods we were using (do a google search for “FDA dog food heart disease”).At my brother’s urging (he’s a veterinarian), we switched to traditional foods from the more established brands. We went through several rounds of food trying to find one that our lab mix would actually enjoy and not eat only out of necessity. I ordered this on a whim because I remembered she had liked fish-flavored treat sticks once, and she absolutely loves this food. She’s actually excited about mealtime again.Now, I know flavor is subjective and every dog is different, so that’s not the real reason I’m writing this review. The real reason I wanted to write the review is that I wanted to let people know that through all the years of “natural” diet, and all the other types of traditional food, her coat has never been this soft and silky. Her back has always been bristly, and I thought that’s just always how it was going to be. Within 2 weeks of switching her to this, her back is getting soft and silky, and her head is impossibly soft. The quality of this food and the ingredients are truly better than Purina gets credit for. Even if your pet ends up not liking this flavor, give one of the other flavors a shot. I don’t think we’ll ever buy another brand again.

Close runner up to Blue Buffalo
I absolutely spoil my dogs. And having 3 of them that have different needs; a gasy Frenchie, a dachshund/chihuahua that has sensitive skin and a Maltese/chihuahua that gets terrible stains. Learning to pick dog foods that have meat as the first ingredient seems to be the trick, but then it starts getting pricey. This is the cheapest one of the expensive brands, my dog seem to like it.I say is a close runner-up to Blue Buffalo which I typically buy now mostly because the SmartBlend have a mix of soft chunks and then the typical hard pieces and my little Maltese will go thru and eat all the small pieces (which i think is the meat/nutritional part) and then the others are just left with the hard ones. I usually just leave food out for my dogs but when I feed them this brand I have to monitor a little more so the little one doesn’t sneak in and steal all the good stuff!Blue buffalo is kind of the same, it has two shapes in their blend but it’s a dark small round piece and the other typical shape dog food. Both are hard so the dogs just eat and don’t specially pick out the “good’ stuff first.

Was not able to locate this at my local store. So I ordered on here since it would arrive within a couple days. I used the subscribe and save and got it for a few dollars less. The bag had no damage and was able to store as normal in my food pantry where my dog food goes. Continue to buy this with no issues.

Both my labs loved it
I have two labradors that are 5 years old. One of them has become a very picky eater and will skip meals regularly. The other has had dry skin and allergies for quite a while. You cannot begin to fathom how happy I was to discover that both of my dogs LOVED this food. Not just liked it and would eat it… I mean both devoured it with gusto. And there was chicken breast in the bowl with it and both ate the dry food first. That was a first. We were spending three times as much for one of those gourmet foods and they were leaving it in the bowl. This has been a lick the bowl clean surprise. No digestive issues have come up and the ingredient list is top notch. I highly suggest trying this food. We got the salmon because of our girls allergy and she has been doing really well with it.
