    Great for Urinary Issues [UPDATE]
[UPDATE]It has been nearly one year since my first review and I’m happy to report that my cat has not experienced ANY veterinarian problems. No bladder issues, healthy coat, and looking great! I can’t recommend this product enough! Also, you think he would get sick of eating the same food for a year straight… NOT TRUE! He makes sure I know every night when it’s can time![ORIGINAL REVIEW]Two months ago (December 2013) my cat had to be brought into an emergency clinic. They proclaimed that he had a blocked bladder and required immediate medical attention, placing a catheter in him and giving him an IV. He stayed overnight and was so bad that they suggested he should stay even longer. I was told he had crystals in his urine and everything needed to be flushed out. Due to financial constraints, I took him home after one overnight stay. The medical bills were outrageous and I am just a college student. There was no way I could afford to keep him there any longer. I was told that there was a high likelihood of of him reblocking in the next few days. I did a lot of research on the internet and decided to purchase Purine One Urinary Tract dry food AND this Purine Urinary Tract canned food. I found that it is very important to include more liquids in his diet. Therefore, I started my own regimen. I feed him the dry food in the morning and afternoon and in the evening I give him one can. He is a big cat, 14 pounds, so I generally feed him quite a bit of dry food (you can find it on Amazon or even in Walmart). I make sure he has plenty of water in his bowl throughout the day. I even add ice cubes to entice him to drink more. It’s so important to get those fluids in!! The first week he came home from the vet I was paranoid. I placed water bowls all over the house and put a little chicken broth in the water so he would drink it. I immediately stopped feeding him his old food (Purina Naturals) and started him on this. I feel his bladder to make sure it never feels firm like a peach (sign of obstruction). He hasn’t had a single issue! I am so happy to say that this food seems to be doing wonders for him. His chances of making it through this were rough and we beat the odds. However, I would definitely suggest feeding the canned food everyday. If you can, try to feed two cans a day because that liquid is just so important. Unfortunately, I don’t have it in my budget to give him two cans a day so I stick to one. Overall, great product!

    My cat enjoys this food!
My 14 year old cat was recently diagnosed with urinary issues and her vet recommended a urinary formula cat food, canned only. We tried several brands and this is the one she likes! I was happy to find this food on amazon, delivery is quick and convenient. As to the food itself, it only has a slight smell and my cat gobbles it up quickly! Several “prescription” foods had a terrible smell so it’s very nice to find one that doesn’t. Pricing is consistent with pet stores in my area, too.

For those searching for food for those ‘Blocked Toms’
I recently had a kitty with a blocked tom issue (couldn’t pee) and I share your pain! He had to be on C/D from the vets after his 2k procedure and finances were a little tight. While I do appreciate C/D, regardless of the disagreements among many cat care groups, it helped him get on the straight path back to recovery. Now we’re at a point where he eats with his brothers and sisters and while they were on his diet for a couple of weeks, I’m making a move to ProPlan for urinary care. Along with a little bit of dry food on the side to help keep strong teeth. So far, so good. He hasn’t had high bacteria in his bladder or a crystal relapse since getting on this. (Do note that I add a few table spoons of water to make sure the boys are all getting enough of that.)Pros: All the cats seem to like it- 8 of them and that’s hard to do. Has a good amount of water/gravy at the start but I still add a little more water. Have tried both giblets and pate, both are good! Not too much ‘junk’ in it. Price is very nice. Even my girl with a sensitive stomach manages this pretty well if I put some of her dry kibble on top, she eats straight through the to the water/meat.Cons: Tiny cans make me cry but a little seems to go a long way.I haven’t had much time to research outside of ‘is this ok to feed to a cat who had blockage problems’ but, for the most part, it seems good! I have moved from dry feeding to predominately wet food (worth the research if you’re not sure what to do like I was!)Edit: For those of you searching for the other flavors of the UTH food, chewy.com usually has them for about the same price! I just checked the price of the ocean fish here and yowch!

my cat love it. I bought it as a substitute when I ran out of Iam’s. Too many calories and way too fat. But if that’s what you’re into, it is a good cat food

We buy urinary tract friendly dry and wet food after our two cats had urinary tract infections. The new diet seems to be working because they haven’t had an infection since starting on this diet. Our cats have this wet food in the morning and look forward to breakfast every day! Highly recommend!

My cat really likes this food. I started feeding him this purina and he has more energy and his furr is so much softer! He seems to be more healthier and hasn’t had any issues so far after I started feeding him this food as he was prone to UTI’S.

Our cats love this. Small bites, gravy. For added gravy, we mix some warm water with the little bit of left over in the can. The cats LOVE it.
