Does your cat meow for more even after they’ve emptied their bowl? They may not be feeling full. That’s because of a common hormonal change that happens after a cat is spayed or neutered. This change causes a spike in hunger and decline in energy needs, which could lead to your cat putting on excess pounds. Royal Canin Appetite Control Spayed/Neutered Dry Cat Food is specifically tailored for the unique nutritional needs of your adult cat (and is the perfect transition from Royal Canin Kitten Spayed/Neutered Cat Food). This complete and balanced formula is designed to help satisfy a cat’s increased appetite that can occur after surgery. High levels of fibers give your cat the feeling of fullness and help reduce the risk of overeating. Moderate fat levels help limit excess weight gain. Plus, L-carnitine ensures their healthy metabolism works hard, burning through calories and helping your cat stay at a healthy weight. Try pairing this dry food with Royal Canin Appetite Control Spayed/Neutered Wet Cat Food for a meal your cat will love. With over 50 years of scientific research and observation, Royal Canin continues to deliver targeted nutrition to feed every pet’s magnificence. Not satisfied? Then neither are we. Our formulas are 100% satisfaction guaranteed.

Good dry cat food
This product seems to help keep cat’s weight down. This cat has bad knees so we want to keep weight at a good level. Both cats seem to like it very much. It is a little pricey but better than surger.y.

Cat screams at me less about wanting food
My 10 year old cat is overweight, and it’s difficult to get her to lose weight because she’s not very active. Her previous food (Iams indoor) was higher calorie, and I was feeding her small servings. She was hungry and would try to steal food from my other cat. I switched to this and she is having a higher volume of food for the same number of calories. She gets some wet and treats, but this is the majority of what she eats. She doesn’t meow at me wanting food constantly. She is not quite as bad about trying to steal food. She seems happy with the flavor/texture, and she’s had no problems since she started eating it. My other cat eats a different food and is somewhat picky, but he also likes hers if he finds pieces on the floor. She previously had dry fur and dandruff on other low calorie foods, but her fur seems normal now. Her weight has remained steady or possibly decreased a tiny bit, and I am happy with that for now. I mostly wanted her to be eating enough that she’s not constantly hungry. This is more expensive, but it’s still lower than many premium foods. This and the Royal Canin weight control are some of the lowest calorie foods that don’t require a prescription, and this is much cheaper than the prescription options.

Prevents craving just as claimed
I have a large male feral cat that hangs around my home. He has been neutered because he has a notch in his ear. He has a coat of full, long gray hair, so when it is summer in Houston he gets virtually no activity and just lays around in the heat. I have tried other diet foods in the past, but he would be incessantly at the door begging for more food all day. With this food he seems happy with his usual feedings and does not ask for more. He likes a mix of wet and dry, so this food is only half of his diet. He seems like he has lost some weight (difficult to weigh a feral). The other feral that hangs out with him and my indoor cats love the taste of the food as well. One of the indoor cats is super picky and I was surprised to see her eat it.. Definitely the first diet cat food I have ever tried where cats seem to really like the taste.

A “Diet” Food my Cats LOVE!
I have a 10 month old male and a 5 year old female, both fixed and 100% indoor cats. My female is obese, but my “kitten” is not. The problem with feeding them is that my older cat ate all the kitten food and packed on the pounds. She is also an EXTREMELY picky eater and will go several days without eating when we change the brand of pet food. We have always purchased the higher end foods available at Walmart or the grocery store. Now that my kitten is old enough for a different food, we bought the Royal Canin for spayed/neutered cats. My cats both LOVE it! I have never seen my older cat eat a new food right from the start (including canned food), but she did with this one. My older cat has lost 1.5 lbs since we started feeding this food and looks like she will continue dropping weight. She also seems more active and interested in play. It’s expensive, but it’s WORKING. I’m willing to pay the premium for the results we have gotten with her. And my younger cat loves it, too. NO, he has not lost any weight.

Jonesy likes it.
Jonesy is a good weight now after transitioning to this food from Royal Canin kitten food. He seems to like it as an accompaniment to Royal Canin Adult Instinctive thin slices in sauce. He’s healthy and his coat is shiny and that is worth the added cost of this food.

Works as Well as Prescription WC Foods
Pros: Lower calorie than usual OTC “indoor”/light cat foods, no prescription required, formulated with fiber, acceptable taste, seems to be somewhat fillingCons: Still more expensive than usual OTC cat foodsMy cat has had major food and weight issues ever since she was spayed. I tried science diet’s and royal canin’s over-the-counter “indoor”/light foods. On both, she kept gaining weight and complaining hysterically if I tried to reduce her intake below a half-cup. Desperate, I switched to royal canin’s prescription-strength weight-control cat food. I was able to stabilize her weight (though not reduce it substantially) on the prescription food while continuing to feed her a half-cup, which seems to be the minimum amount she needs to feel like she’s being fed adequately. But the RC food was very expensive and required either constant new scripts from the vet or spending even more money to buy online from occasional sellers who would overlook the lack of a script (but charged you a premium for that privilege). This new specialized OTC brand seems to work as well as the old prescription food, without the attendant hassles that came with it. She eats it without complaining, but she usually leaves some in the bowl throughout the day. And so far she’s maintaining on half a cup. Most cat owners probably don’t need food this specialized or expensive, but I was grateful to find it.

Amazon’s terrific service…
A most nutritious cat food, but very expensive, but my cat loves it, and worth every penny…

Weight loss is complicated.
My overweight cat loves this, but isn’t losing weight. She may be eating more of it than she should, but she is a 10 yo Persian and doesn’t like to exercise. Her idea of playing is lying on her back holding a toy in her hands!
