A great start
This book helped me get back into the hobby after a 15 year hiatus. I lot has changed, but the author gives just the right amount of information for a newbie. Enough to be knowledgeable and curious, but not so much to be overwhelming. He also includes a little humor to make the read more entertaining. Definitely worth the purchase.

One question I have is how to use a water softener kit along with everything that go s with fish tanks. I am going to start a tank with a water softener along with everything elese and see how it go s with consistent water quality.

First of all it’s a great book to learn all about aquariums in general, not just salt water. The author is really good at not taking it over top with technical jargon.I was getting overwhelmed trying to learn with all the contradictions you read on the web forum’s. But after reading this book. I got my nano marine tank up and running within 2 weeks. And yes it cycled. I already have corals and a few fish as well. All doing fine.Explains every aspect clearly and simply.
