Very effective filters
We have an 8 year old red eared slider and his tank can get pretty gross. Having replaced one broken filter from another brand with a Zilla filter we will not go back. This is an effective filter and it does the job well. Very little prep required, it cleans easily and quickly. The filter itself is easy to fit into the unit and there is a difference in the water in about an hour. It might seem annoying not to be able to buy generic filters, but this is worth the extra money because it cleans efficiently. We change ours every week, so one pack will last 21 days.

A great cost effective option for your Aqueon filter for ten gallon aquarium.The pictures are from 1 week in a new planted 10 gallon tank.It is a perfect fit for the blue filter holder.Also an option under Subscibe and Save, which I have done.Definitely recommend!

Have one 6″ long pond slider w/ 2 filter pumps. Go through a few filters a week. Getting expensive!
These do pretty well with the Zilla green filter pump. I have 2 of the pumps in a 50gal tank for my 1yo turtle, FETTKRÖTE, who has a 6″ long shell.If I feed him in his tank, i go through a minimum of 4 of these a week, but only 2 if i take him out for meals.I also use a sludge destroyer, water softener, and clear water additive, so if you aren’t using all those, you might go through even more filters.I took one star off for price, bc what makes me really mad is that they try to advertise these at “49% off” for the current cost, but if you are new to the filter game, know that they’ve very recently increased the price of these by 50%. They went from $2 per filter in a pack of 3 to almost $3 each filter—so don’t be fooled by the ‘deal’.They’ve gotten so expensive that i actually end up rinsing and cleaning the filters every 2 or 3 days just to keep the costs down–otherwise I’m paying about $50/month just for filters, on top of the costs for all the necessary water additives and hours i spend cleaning his tank.It’s really important to keep pond sliders’ tank water clean, though–otherwise they could develop sepsis. I used to have to do full water changes at least once a week, despite all the preventive care, when i was feeding him in tank.I now take him out and put him in a smaller bowl for meals, and it’s really cut down on the need to change water out and change out filters.We also have two new baby turtles (I’ll include a picture bc who doesn’t like baby turtles?) and I’m using a different type of filter for them just bc i had it from when Fettkröte was small. The Zilla filter pump and filters do a much better job keeping water clean than the other one i guess for The Toddlers.
